Six character wants/speculation:
- Crash
- Sirfetch'd (not giving this up)
- Bandana Dee
- Jibanyan
- Paper Mario
- Giana (the "would probably never happen but it'd be fucking hilarious if it did" pick)
As for the eight characters from a franchise question, Kirby. In addition to the main three, Bandana Dee, Adeleine (possibly paired with Ribbon à la Star Allies), Daroach, Simirror, and the last one's a toss up between Magolor and Gim. I also thought of Prince Fluff, but I'm not sure if he has enough to pull from for a moveset.

Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢I have no actual guesses but here's who I want:
- Estelle Bright
- Saber
- Sakura from Sakura Wars
- Sora
- Crash
- Kazuma Kiryu
Wait, why are people saying 6 characters from any series?
I was asking about (up to) 8 characters from one (Nintendo) series. More as an exercise of "how deep can some series get while still being interesting and/or having variety". But if people are doing another thing, then alright.
The sad, REAL American dichotomy![]()
I'll do you one better, friend-o, how about 100 characters?
Seedot, Rotom, Kartana, Mew, Mawile, Meloetta, Gourgeist (you can customize the size, like with Mii Fighters), Excadrill, Diancie, Raichu, Roserade, Honchkrow, Reuniclus, Chandelure, Diggersby, Alolan Marowak, Heliolisk, Florges, Scrafty, Weavile, Banette, Absol, Breloom, Infernape, Staraptor, Salazzle, Carracosta, Mega Lopunny, Toxicroak, Medicham, Cacturne, Vanilluxe, Barbaracle, Darmanitan, Ampharos, Carnivine, Archeops, Heatmor, Gengar, Xatu, Ludicolo, Swampert, Exploud, Heracross, Malamar, Claydol, Armaldo, Krookodile, Samurott, Conkeldurr, Darkrai, Delphox, Genesect, Trevenant, Machamp, Rampardos, Gardevoir, Gallade, Kommo-o, Bisharp, Decidueye, Chesnaught, Emboar, Zoroark, Golduck, Sceptile, Empoleon, Aegislash, Scizor, Haxorus, Tapu Koko, Pheromosa, Blacephalon, Primarina, Blaziken, Garchomp, Garbodor, Tyranitar, Slaking, Flygon, Gliscor, Goodra, Golisopod, Turtonator, Flapple, Alcremie, Orbeetle, Perrserker, Sirfetch'd, Magearna, Midnight Lycanroc, Cinderace, Rillaboom, Intelleon, Grimmsnarl, Toxitricity, Obstagoon, Urshifu, Eelektross, and Aerodactyl.
Most of the characters I want are either already in the game, are deconfirmed by virtue of being an Assist Trophy or stage element, or are just infeasible for one reason or another at this time. So to pick six fighters whom I both want and are realizable...
1. Bandana Waddle Dee
2. Masked Man (MOTHER 3)
3. Estelle Bright
4. Rex (Xenoblade Chronicles 2)
5. Dixie Kong
6. Geno
Hope next time that Kamek and the Prince of Sable can make the jump to playable fighters.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Alright, 6 then:
- Travis Touchdown: probably the only really viable character in my 6. I think he was previously rejected, but Suda will keep trying and Sakurai kinda owes him the favor, iirc. And the series has grown up a bit.
- Tails the Fox: doesn't add any series diversity, unfortunately.
- Shantae: female and smaller company representation. But Sans and Cuphead make me feel she might be a Mii costume.
- Tracer or D.va: hopefully the iron hasn't cooled down too much.
- Daroach: my favorite for Kirby representation because he's my favorite Kirby character design, but I doubt he'd be the first choice. I'm kinda surprised there weren't any Star Allies characters (the three witches).
- Ray Mk. III: but, I don't see there being any Custom Robo games anytime soon.
So really there's only one or two (Travis and Overwatch) that has a decently high chance.
I don't know enough about this year's release schedule to know what else is possible. I can think of 6 logical but denied characters, though. Monster Hunter is made redundant by Byleth, and there's already a lot of Capcom. Viewtiful Joe probably has a lot of rights issues. Viridi isn't fully rejected, is she? Eevee is a Pokeball character. Someone from Neptunia would make sense, but is it even on the Switch?
I'm surprised Namco didn't push for Nightmare or Kazuya/Jin already (though I'd prefer Talim or Asuka Kazama...)

Toon Link is part of the background on the Spirit Tracks stage.

I don't think Byleth necessarily means they won't have a monster hunter. There are ways to differentiate the two.
Neptunia isn't implausable; one spinoff game on a Nintendo console was all Cloud had when he was released. Ditto with Joker.
As for my wishlist:
1. Rex, perhaps with a mechanic for swapping out different Blades? 2. Elma, since X is one of my favorite games. 3. Ragna The Bloodedge 4. Tethu/Tethy 5. Impa 6. A character from the Tales Series, preferably Lloyd or Asbel.
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut. It's odd that Rathalos is in but no Hunter to go along with it. That said Capcom has already got 3 reps. If they get one more I'd like to see Dante.
Oddly Namco only has 1 rep despite helping develop the game. Someone from Tekken or Soul Calibur would be welcome.
Also I think we can assume Nintendo prioritizes Japanese devs over American or European ones. If we see Doomguy or Chief they'll likely be in the middle of Fighters Pass 2.

Neptunia is usually Play Station/PC exclusive (Super Neptunia RPG is on Switch, as stated before), but Persona is, aside from spin-offs, also Play Station exclusive.
Cloud and Snake are also heavily associated with Play Station, same with Crash who is a favorite for these “I want” lists.
Heavy presence on Nintendo systems isn’t really a rule.

AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!So, anyone think that people will be more likely or less likely to pre-purchase Fighter Pass 2 when its available? While we know that it will have the same content as FP 1 (stage, music, spirits) and have 6 characters, unlike when FP 1 was available to buy, we have no idea of any character that's on it (granted, that could change if they announce someone on Jan 28th).
Would people be more eager or more hesitant to buy it as soon as it came out?
-Witty line-I still don't see how anyone thinks Master Chief is even remotely possible. Doomguy, sure.
I assume Rex and Pyra/Mithra are a lock.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyThe content I know of is 6 fighters, 6 stages, at least 12 songs, and a couple Mii costumes.
Continue writing our story of peace.Another Pokemon and I prefer someone old. Give one of the many passed over mons a chance, like give me Gallade or Heracross or for those wanting a fully evolved grass starter throw in Sceptile.
Another Mega Man character. I've given up hope for a Battle Network character, but at least incorporate some content into their moveset like the Yo-Yo or Step Sword battle chips.
Someone from Yo-Kai Watch. Or at least some spirits.
Given the minor Spyro vs. Crash debates, why not have them share a slot?
Whether or not we get Bandana Waddle Dee or even another Kirby character, I want to see Yo-yo incorporated into their moveset.
Baby Mario as the second rep to Yoshi's Island.
Another Street Fighter character. Chun-Li and Guile seem the most iconic right after Ryu and Ken. Of course given Guile is an assist trophy, he might have to wait until Smash 6.
An Earthbound character without psychic powers.
But we know the contents: 6 characters and 6 stages, plus a few extras. Seeing I didn't know who Joker or Terry were until Smash made me take a closer look at their franchises, yeah, why not. I will enjoy getting more characters for the game, rather than pondering about which ones to get or to not get. I've spent over 120 hours with Ultimate, so, character passes are well spent in my book.
Also, I don't get why people think random Pokemon or units from Fire Emblem would get in over poster species or main lords.
Spyro got a piss poor localization for Japan, to the point Year of the Dragon (and I think even Reignited Trilogy) weren't released there. It is pretty much hated over there.

Exactly. What people forget is while the West certainly has some importance, we aren't the target audience. Or least not the only one. That's why DQ got in, and that's why we have 8 different Fire Emblem characters. Because Fire Emblem is hugely iconic over there, as is DQ, and that's what matters. So even if Spyro is popular in the west, if Japan doesn't want Spyro in, then he ain't getting in.
x4+
x2 There's also the simple problem that Crash and Spyro would play completely differently from one another, and barring some mish mash of them (akin to Duck Hunt and Banjo-Kazooie), splitting a slot between them is unfeasable. Unless you're saying to give 1 slot to each, but I can't imagine Nintendo giving 2 slots to Activision.

That wouldn't be guessing...
Guessing is harder than wanting.
