I kinda feel like Waluigi would be a waste of good DLC. He's practically guaranteed to be playable in the next game, plus he's an evergreen first-party character, so it's not like this is a "Strike while the iron's hot!" type of situation like Joker's.

The real first party character who fits a "Strike While the Iron's Hot" mentality is poor Rex.

Given the Mii costume was a consolation prize for not getting into the base roster or the Pass, and now that problem is solved, I think he's got a chance.

He even has a loophole towards the "spirits deconfirm" reasoning, since it's most likely Rex is going to come with Pyra/Mythra and XC 2 has no spirits featuring the two.

Neither is there official artwork with both of them afaik but who cares

I'm not a Xenoblade fan, but the idea of a Pokemon Trainer that swaps waifus instead of Pokemon is pretty fun. Plus given the amount of Scenery Porn in that game, their stage has gotta be amazing!

I'm sad that they stop making character posters after Inklings.

Didn't Sakurai swear off Pokemon Trainer mechanic?

It's two characters you'd swap, not three unless you count Pneuma, who's a late-game spoiler and more like Final Smash material than anything, and they'd probably just have different specials or something. They'd also probably not be the character you're controlling. It wouldn't be as extensive a thing as Pokemon Trainer.

Rex, Pyra, and Mythra would probably just end up being more like an element-swap mechanic.

Anyway, my take is that I feel having spirits, costumes, and AT are seen as "represented". Even music for that matter. Sakurai already made a big deal about representation towards those. And no, there's no "costume to character" upgrade within the same series (maybe next game).

People bitch about Mother only having "2 reps" yet is actually healthily represented.

You know what would be insane music-wise?

If Terry came with a track or a remix from Capcom vs SNK. Since both Capcom and SNK are up in this anyway.

Capcom owns those music. Also people tend to forget the crossover with Capcom kind of killed SNK.

Yeah. SvC:Chaos damaged SNK pretty harshly. CvSNK:2001MotM was fantastic.

I find it bull because there is no way Geno has any traction in EU. Game didn't came out until a decade after and only possible way for the EU fans to have any sort of atachment is if they spend a lot of time in the smash echochamber.

Don't underestimate the number of people who literally only care about Geno because of Smash speculation.

Anyone know how to get Megalovania to play in game? Still not really sure how to set up music.

Go to Vault, then Sounds. There's a My Music option. Click that and you have the stages. Megalovania counts as "other", so these are the stages that can play it: Summit, Hanenbow, Balloon Fight, Living Room, Find Mii, Tomodachi Life, Pictochat 2, Duck Hunt, Wrecking Crew, Pilotwings, and Wuhu Island.

He got it, so I'll just add that you can play it manually on those stages whenever you're selecting a stage for a match by pressing Y and scrolling to the bottom of the list.

Thread of new Sakurai famitsu column, focuses more in DLC.

Some key points:

• He enjoys working in it, and wants to introduce more worlds in Smash. Focused on collaboration.
• Like before, Nintendo picks the DLC possibilities, Sakurai finalizes/realizes. In my interpretation it looks like Nintendo will, say go for "pick someone from Atlus" and Sakurai will try to make someone there workable.
• Considers spirits and music as representation. While people are already in arms about spirits, one think people do overlook are music selection. Yeah it has been consistent that the newcomers all bring their own new melodies not represented in the game already.

Absolutely nothing in what you linked says anything about spirits and music.

It's in a link from the first link. A second twitter post notes it, but it's referring to Sakurai saying he did a lot of work(in context of using the word collaboration) of Spirits and Music from various franchises, basically.
