I think at the very least things that are concensus or obviously belong there (saying Scrappy Doo is The Scrappy shouldn't be beyond the pale, for instance).
Grr. Argh.technically, what this editor is doing is correct. so long as he's not deleting the example altogether but moving it (zubat IS an example, that's for sure), there's nothing wrong with that. if i read between the lines of the rant correctly, that's what he's doing, right? moving, not deleting.
however, if the main problem you have is regarding the subjectivity of the trope (or lack thereof) and not the edit, i would say at least don't point fingers at people for following site policy, just bring it to discussion. as far as i can see, the subjectivity comes into play because the trope presents a negative approach: "this designation applies to any type of non-threatening enemy that causes great annoyance." it's very possible that nobody will ever call a zubat threatening, but there could be people out there who aren't annoyed by them. maybe someone out there likes fighting zubats every fifteen seconds. -shrug-

Well, this is a somewhat particular case, as the character page(s), the ones about Pokemon species, are not about individual characters but species. I understand some of the logic behind the split [[hottip:(but, after all, all tropes are subjective, and trying to objectively separate them in objective and subjective is a logical fallacy that could take its toll on the site)]]...
Anyway, some of the changes are a bit extreme: Take into account Zubat, for example: The guy has a chance of appearing as a random encounter of 75% in a certain area (where the encounter rate is something close to 20%). That means that you pretty much have a 15% chance of running into a Zubat by taking a step. How can this not be objectively a Goddamn Bat, if it is the trope image, considered to be an alternate name, and the game itself ACKNOWLEDGES IT AS SUCH.
Speaking of the issue, a single user seems to be deleting said entries on a Ctrl+F basis, and moving them to a nonexistant YMMV page (so Ctrl+V method). That same user already got into edit wars in the past, coming sporadically into the article to wreck it because he either missed some detail others got and though it didn't exist, or just didn't like the way it was written. And with bad grammar while we are at it.
So, I would like to know if there is something to be done to keep such mathematical thoughs somewhat at bay. My opinion on trope subjectivism (and the loss of tropes that WILL happen) nonwithstanding.
