Quite a few people, actually. Try clearing your cookies. There was a bug where the site would store multiple copies of cookies on your computer. There's probably a shorter way than this, but to get into cookies on Firefox, go to Tools->Options, click on the Privacy Tab, then click on the button that says Show Cookies. From there you can type in tvtropes.org and it'll show you the cookies from the site.

“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”...It should work. If not, I have no idea. Ask Fast Eddie.
Edit: I just cleared all my cookies on Firefox, and I had to log back in. It should work.

“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”That is not possible. The login mechanism is based entirely on cookies. Are you sure you didn't just delete all cookies from a set time period or something?
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.Okay, now it's working on IE.
Time to check Firefox.
Well, that didn't work at first. Then I went to my cookies list, and found that there were several copies of my login information for TV Tropes. I deleted all of them, and was expectedly logged out of the site. I logged in, then logged back in with a different account. Works fine now.
Also, I'm amused at "mazeltov".
*coughs* I told you there were multiple copies. Just saying.
Yeah, it amused me when I first saw it. Also unnerved me because I dislike actually seeing my password. Makes me nervous. xD
“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”Protip: Your password for this site should be considered demoted.
You can see your password in plaintext in some pages. It is also in plaintext in a cookie, as Kris Mahai has noted.
If you use this password on other accounts you have, such as for paying credit card bills or accessing your university's features,...yeah, you might want to change that.
This is getting ridiculous. Not only do I have to manipulate the code to get rid of "Natethe Great", but I have to delete the individual cookies from the site every time I want to edit the wiki. Then my fresh login only lets me edit for one session. What's going on? This is a fairly recent phenomenon, so was there a Firefox update that screwed everything up? Was the site's code itself changed?
I want to log in once, have my browser remember it (including "Nate the Great" and not "Natethe Great"), and not have to worry about it anymore. Is that too much to ask?
I just deleted the tvtropes cookie and logged in as "Nate The Great", one word CamelCase, and it still spit out "Natethe Great."
That's because that's the way you made the account. I updated the database to 'Nate The Great' just now.

Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyWow, I didn't notice clicking "this" to log out/Get Unknown didn't work until I noticed this thread. Weird.
So do I just delete the whole kit and kaboodle of TV Tropes cookies in Options>Privacy>Remove Individual Cookies to reactivate Get Unknown?
EDIT: Yup, deleting that whole tvtropes cookie file did the trick. Noticed that the "Get Unknown" thing returns me to the password thing and there's no more "whew that's done! you are now an unknown troper" screen, which I found needless.
Also totally changed my password, what with the whole demotion thingy. Since Firefox does not apparently offer to remember TV Tropes passwords (and apparently never did, I looked before I killed the cookie file) because of the fact that the account login is a cookie, I changed to something I can vaguely remember because I usually log in once and never again on my main computer because of that whole "cookie" thing.

Stomping on your fingers as you're clinging on to the abyss

I can't log out or log another account in on Firefox or IE on my computer.
Anyone else having this trouble?
