There isn't a Vita version, it's a completely new game in the series.

So I just started this series with 2. Great game. Is 3 good too?

Uncharted 3 is good, but a lot of people prefer the second one. I personally really like Uncharted 3 more than Uncharted 2, so I highly recommend it.

I guess whether I'd recommend 3 depends on what you like about 2. I felt 3 was way too scripted, and my brother agrees, and also thinks the battles are too hard to the point of not being fun when he plays on Hard mode (he plays 1 and 2 on Hard and still enjoys himself).

I thought 3 was easier than 2, because it typically had fewer traditional shootouts. Made it less difficult to beat on crushing anyways.

I think I like 3 more though. I definitely prefer it's multiplayer.

Some good news on the Uncharted movie.

Production starts 'very early next year'.

The movie will be "very international" and "all over the world."

I'm not sure that the news of the production starting are good news at all.

[up]Lets be fair; if any video game movie can be legitimately good, Uncharted is the safe bet.

I don't have much high hopes for it. The series is already identical to the typical Hollywood blockbuster movie in many ways, so making a movie version of it so going to feel redundant to everything else on the market.

I'm very surprised that this thread barely gets any traffic, so I had to bump it up.

So anyways I recently decided to play all the main Uncharted games in order, beating 1 and 4 for the first time while replaying 2 and 3. All of them were pretty fun overall.

  • Though Uncharted 1 was my least favorite, due to how awkward the controls felt, not to mention that the level design was a bit too small and repetitive.
  • Uncharted 2 was definitely a big improvement over the first game, and set the standard for all the others.
  • Uncharted 3 wasn't very different from the second game, though I think it had the best soundtrack out of all the games.
  • Uncharted 4 is easily my favorite, both the graphics and gameplay were a vastly greater improvement from the previous games.

However, I have still not yet purchased or played The Lost Legacy. And I've never owned a PSV, so I haven't played Golden Abyss either (though as it's a portable spin-off, I doubt I'm really missing anything).

Also, you guys must've heard about that upcoming feature film. Though I probably won't even bother to go see it in theaters, given that Uncharted is already an interactive action movie. Not to mention Hollywood's track record with adapting video games...

Personally, the first is my favorite. The setting is more intimate - pretty much just that one island, and it's not jumping from country to country, and the climbing and jumping controls give you more control over Drake's movement. It may lack polish in some areas, but I like it a lot overall.

The third game started to throw in moments that were so scripted I found them really annoying, like chase scenes where you had to run the exact correct way or you'd lose. Those types of scripted moments felt like you were an actor following a director's orders, rather than an actual person in that world. I felt like they were getting too big on scripting, and the third game just annoyed me overall.

The second game felt like it was trying to ramp things up over the first, with major setpieces and some major scripted moments, but it wasn't too overdone. In fact, Uncharted 2 is the first one I played. I liked it, but after playing the first game, I liked that one even more.

Having played 2 and 3 first, 1 felt rather awkward to me. Like I said it seemed smaller in scope, and it felt like the weird controls would get me killed more than anything else. And I know it's a 2007 game, but the graphics really showed their age (the next game, even though it came out just two years later, looked much prettier by comparison).

Also is it just me, but Drake's Fortune was a bit more repetitive than the later games, it mostly consisted of gunfights, followed by climbing on mostly unmoving platforms, then more gunfights, repeat. The later games had more interesting combat and platforming, IMO. I'm not saying that I thought UDF was boring, it was just okay. Although I think that things got a bit more exciting when you started fighting those skinny-ass mutant zombies, especially while running with the MP40.

Interesting. I can see what you're talking about. I personally loved the smaller scope of the first game, but I can easily see why others would prefer the greater variety of locales found in later games. I also felt like the controls require more skill on the part of the player (my brother remarked on how "automated" the climbing was in the later games), but I can also see how they would frustrate other players.

I enjoy the first game for its intimacy as well, but with its more limited gameplay, less varied environments, more outdated graphics and far more forgettable villains (seriously, I cannot remember even the name of the Evil Brit with an old man gold chain), it stands as the weakest of the bunch. I like it, but I also understand people who find it So Okay, It's Average.

Second game does the thing that good sequels should: takes the lacking parts of the first game and improves on them while retaining and polishing the things that worked. I consider it the best in the series and one of my favourite games of all time.

The third game continues on the same route, but feels at times a little too scripted. I managed to roll through them on my first play through without a hitch, and there they work great, but they kind of fall apart if you veer off the script at all. The plot also feels more disjointed than the previous two due to the focus on set pieces. It's a great game, but not as coherent of an experience as the second one.

The fourth I cannot say anything about, since I don't own a PS 4. But whenever I get one, it'll be the first game that goes in.

I own the first Uncharted on my PS 3. Personally, I thought it was decent but it had some flaws. Namely the combat, which wasn't that great, and the villains. Also, the final fight was really underwhelming. I liked the exploration and the main characters but I think that the game could've been better.

Has anyone else had issues with controlling Nate's movement in the Drake's Fortune remaster for PS4?

It's like his run cycle isn't loading properly. He looks like he's about to start running, and maybe takes a few steps if I'm lucky, but then immediately goes back into his slower, walking cycle for the next few steps, and it just keeps looping back and forth between these two animations, almost like he's constantly tripping on his shoelaces or something. It's really awkward, and I don't remember the game being this clunky on PS3.

I just finished Rise of the Tomb Raider and Horizon: Zero Dawn before that, and I had zero issues with the controls in either of those games, so I don't think it's my controller or anything like that. I mean, I guess it's possible that my controller broke in between games, I just find that very unlikely.

I haven't tried the remasters of Among Thieves or Drake's Deception yet.

EDIT: Okay, so I just looked it up and this is apparently a fairly common bug. Swapping the left and right analog sticks seems to fix it sometimes, but not all the time. Same with just getting a new controller. This bug is present in the remaster of The Last of Us as well.

Bluepoint's remasters of Metal Gear Solid and ICO / Shadow of the Colossus were basically flawless, the fact that they're apparently fine with leaving this potentially game-breaking bug in is pretty disappointing. Good thing I didn't trade in my original PS3 copies of Uncharted yet.
