The thing is with that, Paradox's normal game setup is probably one of the most conducive to mobile games.

Still hoping for a fantasy themed "Crusader Kings meets Stellaris" game.

[up]x3 Stellaris: Immortal jokes were made on stream. And plenty of them.

Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.

How many secret projects are we at now? I think three internal ones have game directors announced now, as of October last year we had Chris on a secret project, Henrik on a secret project alongside CK 2, Johan was also secretly game director for the secret project of imperator, now Wiz is in charge of something?

Chris Victoria 3, Henrik CK 3 and Wiz EU 5?

On of those guesses is probably wrong, but I’d be surprised if they all are.

[up][up] I’d love that, preferably with some of Stellaris’s research system mixed in for how to do magic and various magical armies like undead, orcs, things like that.

I doubt that CK 3 is anything more than a concept at this point. And I doubt that EU 5 is even at that point yet, with EU 4 development still in full swing.

That seemed like Johan's pet project, and I don't think he's helming any of these projects.

I'm willing to bet at least one of them is World of Darkness-based, purely because Paradox haven't really managed to get much value out of the IP yet.

So...need help. The problem with megacorps is that they take +50% penalty to stuff if they're over admin cap, right? I got a question: should I switch from corp to normal empire if, for some reason, I have 8 colonizable planets within 2 jumps of my homeworld, including 4 worlds that are size >23 (with 1 of that being a size 25 Gaia world from Mardak Vol event)? I only colonized 3 of them right now (1 size 25 base 60% hab, 1 size 13 Gaia world, 1 size 14 base 80% hab), and 2 of the size >23 planets have only base 20% habitability , so I haven't colonized them yet...in process of building colony ship for size 25 Gaia though. But yeah, should I change? Since the sheer district sizes I'll be dealing with would be nuts for admin cap...

Also, all of them are in a single sector...weird.

Hey, so anybody here remember when I caught some (hopefully accidental) plagiarized Star Wars TCG art in the Stellaris tradition tree (specifically a Tier-1 Prosperity perk)? And they actually copped to it when I shot them an e-mail and changed it in the update afterwards?

Well somebody must have missed a memo because it's been reverted back in the latest version.

Yeah I remember that, I'd say shoot them either an email, a tweet or a forum post, somebody will probably (deservedly) get in trouble this time.

Played a few hours of Stellaris since I was finally able to buy MegaCorp. It's...interesting so far. It definitely feels a lot less finicky with the new system to get stuff now.

My issue now though is that I'm completely trapped between a bunch of other larger empires.

Which is normal. tongue I find myself preferring the old planet system, to be honest. I know that's not a majority view, but I'm just not getting into this new hybrid Vicky/EUIV system as well as I did the old one.

Yeah, I do like the idea of claiming one planet and your empire getting bigger all around. At the same time, I do enjoy some border porn and trapping civs with closed borders and cutting off their avenues to other systems to allow me to claim more.

Oh, you're not, but the new system is in this weird between stage where it both demands and discourages that kind of expansion. Eventually, you're going to run into issues where you either put population controls in place and receive happiness penalties, or you wind up with overpopulation and more unhappiness penalties. So then you're going to have to expand. And wind up with even more micromanagement.

Like I ran a xenophobic mechanist empire, conquered a primitive world, and then all the primitives were outbreeding my own people. That's probably mismanagement on my part, but in the old game slaves, by default, couldn't even appear on planets I didn't put them on myself. In this one they instantly started jumping, and they'd replace my robots wherever they went.

So how exactly do you redraw your trade routes in Stellaris? I'm losing a bunch of trade because my route goes through the Voidspawn eve nthough there's a perfectly safe path right next to it with the same amount of jumps.

You can't directly redraw routes AFAIK you can however declare a system off-limits by pressing an icon in the bottom middle next to the galaxy map icon.

So took the plunge and have thrown myself at stellaris as needed something slower paced. And I wanted to get back into a grand strategy.

Playing as the UNE and have only just realised big empire = bureaucracy. So 120 systems I think and 6 planets.... but a lot of resources.

I haven't quite worked out the best way to use stsrbases or how to develop planets. It's all a hodge podge. My teching up feels a bit slow; i have some decent trade routes set up with starbases and off world trading companies. And a couple of curator enclaves. Alpha centaur is colonised as are a few of the other tropical / continental planets nearby. Not sure if I just build lots of farming districts wherever or spec buildings into it.

Also every empire seems to be xenophobic! That or a hive mind. So they're all beating each other up.

Any advice? I think I can hold some chokepoijts and grow. But as I seem to be doing an attempt at diplomacy in a galaxy that wont DO diplomacy not sure if I should try an invasion or not.

Stellaris is yet another game where it's easier to play as an "evil" empire than a "good" one. Xenophobic empires allow slavery and purging, allowing you to have control over world populations. Militaristic empires can bully the smaller pacifistic empires early, but if allowed to live too long, they form federations and then you have a mess to deal with.

My issue is I don't seem to have anyone to form a federation WITH... unless I can uplift some primitive species. But one of them is currently being "observed" by a fanatical xenophobe empire and another is in part of the edge with zero planet expansion options.

It may be time for the UNE to spread some liberty about the place. But I haven't declared war yet and concerned I may find myself just taking more bureaucratic burdens on...

Eh, I've got the drone mining lasers and energy siphons. A few corvettes and cruisers with those and the atomic missiles should be fine right? I can take the whole galaxy, right...? Right?

I think I need to redesign my planets... and work out the whole Sector thing, though reading the forums I am realising Sectors are busted.

Next game I may try out a machine empire. Haven't bought megacorp yet, but that could be a fun thing later in Jan.

I had a really good run going in Crusader Kings 2 starting off as Meade then eventually growing to create the Kingdom of Ireland and taking over all the British Isles, but I'm running into an issue where every few seconds the game stops to load for a few seconds, even at low speeds. The issue has become extremely prevalent and has basically made it unplayable at this point. Reading around people are basically saying it's a result of the game's 32-bit architecture and having to keep track of exponentially more information the further along you get in a session. Anyone else experience this issue?

[up][up]The solution here as with most problems of a foreign nature is war, if those oppressive bigots won't do business with you then the only option is to keep the peace by invading and setting up a government that will.

3x[up]Yeah Sectors have been pretty disimproved by patch 2.2 since you can no longer expand them indefinitely.

One feature you might've overlooked is that you can create a vassal state from a sector. This opens a couple of possibilities: you can reduce your bureaucratic strain by gifting unlucrative systems and planets to your vassal.

By taking the Feudal Society Civic you can allow them to expand on their own or you release them and form a Federation with them for a similar effect.
