They didn't just pull it off, it was a crushing victory.
EDIT: Actually the Brits seem to have rallied a bit (the US just enacted the Marshall Plan, don't know if that has anything to do with it) but they're still basically stuck in northern Wales and Scotland. They've also brought the Italians to a halt at Baghdad.

The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books. How do I do screenshots again?
EDIT: Argh, I'm snapping away, but for some reason it always takes a photo of my desktop instead.

The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books.I'll see what I can do. Give me a moment. I take it I'm in the lucky position of seeing a rare outcome in terms of gameflow?
The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books.Well, here it is. A Nazi world...
Europe. Currently not a very friendly place. Note the Brits last stand in the corner.
Britains last stand. They're down to Wales and Scotland, basically.
Things are no less depressing further east.
Yeah, Europe is fucked. There's a German steamroller out there, somewhere...
I'm going to stay quiet in a corner and pray nobody notices me.

The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books.I wonder if I can snag Iraq before the Nazis do. At least I'll keep it out of their hands...
The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books.Mother of God!
If I was you there would be no way I'd let those Kraut freaks have their way with liberity and justice like that! I think you should let the Germans attack the USSR, but when they're extended, strike their soft, fruity underbelly! Without the USSR, US, and you acting in unison, that looks like a victory for the Axis.
"Delenda est." "Furthermore, Carthage must be destroyed." -Common Roman saying at the end of speeches. It would seem that the sun never sets over the Papal Empire. The Reformation was a bit of a dud. The only nation that converted was Switzerland and after the collapse of the Ottomans, only Spain and the Pope were there to pick up the pieces.

Trouble is Turkey is in no state to fight; my forces were practically exhausted fighting the Greeks, Bulgarians and Yugoslavs. Right now I've only just managed to get back into positive manpower; and I'm not even mobilised! Also, Turkey starts without armour; that means I've got a small (but now fairly formidable) infantry force, and some bombers, to work with; and thats it.
On top of that, if I dogpile Germany, I face war with Romania, Hungary and, worst of all, Italy. Even if the Germans have no reserves whatsoever, Italy could crush me solo. (Admittedly I could chew up and spit out Hungary and particularly Romania without much effort; I'm about two provinces from their unguarded capital.)
I'm finally starting to crank out some light armour, but unless something shiny distracts Mussolini, intervention is just going to get me flattened.
My army didn't take excessive losses, Turkey just has a crap manpower base. Two units of mountaineers and a mobilisation and suddenly I'm out of soldiers.

The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books. If even Italy can curbstomp you, you're doing it wrong.
Personally I don't like wanton expansion in a Paradox title, but then I'm The Roleplayer.
INT is knowing a tomato is a fruit. WIS is knowing it doesn't belong in a fruit salad. CHA is convincing people that it does.^^ Well, sometimes Paradox games go a bit wonky and the underdog suddenly becomes unbeatable. I've seen Gotland and some Irish minors crush a France-Scandinavia alliance before. Byzantium occasionally makes a miraculous comeback in 1452 and goes on a rampage across Antolia.
It wouldn't be surprising if Italy has become a Lethal Joke Character in Chainsaw's game.
On an unrelated note, I am considering downloading the MEIOU mod as soon as I finish my current game. Apparently, it is very well done.

Given that Italy managed to beat the living crap out of the Brits in north Africa, I'd say their Joke Character status has been firmly revoked.
Though the Brits did manage to occupy Axis Ethiopia. (Just about the first glimmer of hope in a crummy campaign.)
I was really just conquering the Balkans to see if I could do it.
The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books.I've noticed that France has a nasty habit of gobbling up bits of Prussia in Vicky II, and emerging as being ridiculously powerful if allowed to run rampant early in the game.
(Incidentally, this is usually why I dogpile France. Britain is big, but if you're a European power, they at least tend to have the decency to stay a safe distance away and stick to harassing the poor Indians and Africans.)

The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books. There is a reason France is the Big Bad of Paradox Games.
Perhaps for your Hearts of Iron game, you can wait until you develop nukes and then rain hellfire onto major Nazi provinces. It might also be a good idea to find a way to ally with Mussolini. I mean, he is bad, but compared to Japan and Germany, he is probably the best option available.
Who is ruling the US by the way?
Last time I checked, still Roosevelt.
The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books.@Penta: Or the Villain Protagonist if it's the player who's the big blue blob?

Uhh, playing an "interesting" game in Hearts Of Iron III.
Basically, I've been playing as Turkey, recreating the Ottoman Empires western half steadily (just crushed Yugoslavia, leaving only the Axis Romania and Hungary independent, which I'm not touching with a barge-pole. And I've been watching the world go by... with increasing unease.
Why? Because the Axis are smashing the allies completely.
France and Poland fell in months, Italy has seized the whole of North Africas coast line, Britain itself has all but fallen, and I took a peek at Britains situation; it won't be long till the rest of the island falls.
On top of this, Japan has completely conquered the Chinese factions. (Even Yunnan is an Axis satellite.) America is nowhere to be seen, neither is the USSR... given that its still only 1940 I guess thats to be expected, but come on.
At this rate the world will be coloured an unhealthy tinge of green, grey and gold.
Think its time for me to lose the neutral conqueror status and throw my hand in meekly with the Comintern... I've been trying to join the Allies but I think thats a lost cause now. I could always swallow up Britains remaining middle-eastern territories while I'm at it. Keeps 'em out of Nazi hands, but on the other hand, anything that keeps Italy focussed on Britain keeps them away from attacking me. I managed to snatch Greece away from them in the nick of time, but somehow I doubt Mussolini has forgotten my boldness. He'll be coming for me some day.
At this rate the only thing that can save me is a Comintern incursion. I don't think even American intervention is gonna tip the scales here.
