Kory: i will need to do some more testing to see if the 500KB should be lowered even more but either way everyone can relax because the database will not crash or implode in anyway due to page size so splitting pages isn't a huge priority and is just more of a suggestion. For pages that actually load slow, splitting the pages will help slower internet users navigate these pages better.
It looks like pages over 500,000 characters (html formatted, that is) are crashing the server when someone tries to edit them. programmer's whine
They need to be fixed, anyway. Way too big for one page. They need to be broken up into subpages of a reasonable size.
I'm trying to get better about communicating before big changes, so we'll let this one run for a while before taking the action. The server crashes do come under the heading of 'urgent', though.

Explanation of what triggers the too-long page warning

I didn't do an exhaustive read, but they were surprisingly well split. The suggestion of creating a work page for the remake sounds good, as someone would only need to write the description and start fixing the wicks. I'll revert for now, but someone with more time in their hands should definitely do that.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.SelfDemonstrating.The Joker was removed from the list after being split up. My instinct with Self-Demonstrating pages would be to just take a hatchet to them and engage in serious cleanup, but whatever. Not like I particularly engage in that part of the wiki anyway.
Characters.Disco Elysium is also giving the warning.
CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorsWhen a trope takes up more than half the page can it be split into its own sub-page? I read the rules and couldn't find anything stating against it. It said over 500,000 characters and crashes the site, but nothing against splitting if a trope takes up over half the page. Sorry if this question may be potentially stupid.
Good Scott! What trope are we talking about? Perhaps it just needs some A LOT of, trimming?

I don't think it's the right split thread to ask, but to answer the question there's no strong limit, many arbitrary use "when there are enough examples of one trope to require scrolling the page" as a warrant for splitting.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupDethroningMoment.Web Original is overly long again. Is there a good way to split it?
The Other folder is the only one with a boatload of items.
Should we split off a subgenre? Maybe a separate page for Web Animation or Let's Play?

Should we stick to actual fanworks and remove examples that aren't from them? Plenty of them in the Steven Universe folder even violate Weblinks Are Not Examples.
Which of these aren't fanworks? Removing or commenting examples that are just weblinks sounds reasonable though.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupHow about splitting off a couple of the longer folders? Like Heartwarming. The Loud House Fan Works or Heartwarming.Fan Works The Loud House

In 2016, it was determined that compilation pages
for tiny works like Fan Art are unwanted. That means most of the Steven Universe section could be cut. I also suspect some of the works on the page now have their own pages, but it's hard to tell because the page mostly uses external links instead of actual wiki links.
There doesn't seem to be precedent for folders of fanfics of a given work receiving their own Moments pages, as opposed to individual fan works. There are Awesome.Fan Fic and Funny.Fan Fic pages separate from the Fan Work pages, but I'm not sure if we consider fanfics worth separating from fan works more generally anymore, and I'm not sure how much separating along those lines would even help. The Funny.Fan Fic page is split based on medium of the original work, which may be the best approach, but some works may be hard to categorize that way.

There actually sort of was with the Non-Canon Pages
, which acted as conglomerate pages for troping Fan Works of a specific work before they were cut from the wiki. See the thread for details.

Generally, I feel like works with 20+ unique tropes could get their own pages, even if it's not the type of work that normally gets its own page.
That said, a few of the examples are probably duplicates. Many of the minigames in Super Mario 64 DS are also in New Super Mario Bros. 1, so maybe we should have a page for the collection of minigames that appear in both.
