Kory: i will need to do some more testing to see if the 500KB should be lowered even more but either way everyone can relax because the database will not crash or implode in anyway due to page size so splitting pages isn't a huge priority and is just more of a suggestion. For pages that actually load slow, splitting the pages will help slower internet users navigate these pages better.
It looks like pages over 500,000 characters (html formatted, that is) are crashing the server when someone tries to edit them. programmer's whine
They need to be fixed, anyway. Way too big for one page. They need to be broken up into subpages of a reasonable size.
I'm trying to get better about communicating before big changes, so we'll let this one run for a while before taking the action. The server crashes do come under the heading of 'urgent', though.

Explanation of what triggers the too-long page warning

Split ContestedSequel.Video Games. The main Contested Sequel page no longer has the warning but is at 339 KB, so should I split the Live-Action Film folder as well?

BoringButPractical.Real Life is really long and takes about an hour for even fast readers to read through thoroughly (it has over 335.5k characters including spaces).
Oh, and this page and the main page both have Sports sections.

Kirby is awesome.Should we split Friendship Is Magic: Twilight Sparkle into separate pages according to the alphabet? I got a warning when checking out the editor that the page was getting too long so thoughts? Thanks.

How many of them aren't Character Tropes? Like Tail Slap, that seems like a single-episode thing and can / should be deleted?

Characters.Pokemon The Series Team Rocket Trio is giving the warning. Given that the page contents are roughly 75% about the core trio and 25% about the Pokemon they've used throughout the years, what's the best way to split the page?
Cave Johnson, we're done here. While clearing wicks for You Gotta Have Blue Hair, I found Chainsaw Man, which has the too-long warning. Split the antagonist section off into its own page?
MohsScaleOfViolenceHardness.Film Levels 8 To 10 is giving the warning. Not sure how to split it though.
Macron's notesWMG.Todd In The Shadows Trainwreckords displays the warning banner. Given that the bulk of it is made up of the albums being predicted for the show that haven't been confirmed or deconfirmed yet, would it be best to split that section into multiple pages?
Be kind.
Do we need a section for deconfirmed albums? Isn't WMG guessing about theories that could be real?

Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper Wall
Honestly, I'm not 100% sure what the format for this specific kind of WMG page ought to be, largely because it's predicting topics for future episodes rather than speculating on anything in-universe.
Personally I think putting the deconfirmed stuff in their own section(s) helps with organizing the page, but even if it used the otherwise typical format of keeping the deconfirmed examples among the unconfirmed ones with a "jossed" sub-bullet, it would still need considerable splitting.
WMG is a free for all. It could be about genuine theories, joke theories, or things you just wish could be true.

Oh OK. Wasn't sure if it was allowed under WMG, thanks for filling me in Jay.
Maybe we could split the deconfirmed and Jossed stuff together on one page?
Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallRegarding the Mohs Scale page, my first inclination would be to move the 8s to the 0-7 page, but that page is over 500 KB as it is (though not giving the warning as of yet), so we might want to go to a three-way split, and of course that means going through the rigamarole of changing the names of the existing pages...

I notice Memes.Pokemon The Series has a folder for "The Twitch marathon". Is that referring to Twitch Plays Pokemon?
