Kory: i will need to do some more testing to see if the 500KB should be lowered even more but either way everyone can relax because the database will not crash or implode in anyway due to page size so splitting pages isn't a huge priority and is just more of a suggestion. For pages that actually load slow, splitting the pages will help slower internet users navigate these pages better.
It looks like pages over 500,000 characters (html formatted, that is) are crashing the server when someone tries to edit them. programmer's whine
They need to be fixed, anyway. Way too big for one page. They need to be broken up into subpages of a reasonable size.
I'm trying to get better about communicating before big changes, so we'll let this one run for a while before taking the action. The server crashes do come under the heading of 'urgent', though.

Explanation of what triggers the too-long page warning

For that scenario, my question would be: which of these pages would we direct Tropers to add new entries to?
edit: Or do you mean something along the lines of - Main Page, Archive Page 1, Archive Page 2?
edit x2: I think I can group up enough similar things in JustBugsMe.Mass Effect 2 to make a proper split. Will take my idea to the discussion page. Tackling JustBugsMe/Heroes next.
edit x3: JustBugsMe/Heroes is under control.

Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project! What I did with WMG is split them up into Open Theories (sometimes part one, two, etc), Jossed Theories, Confirmed Theories, and Silly Theories (for "X is a Time Lord" type WMGs).
It's a lot of work, but it seems like the most logical division to me.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Ah, that does make sense! Thanks Ccoa.
I'm currently tracking a discussion on Mass Effect 2 on how the change for that page should be implemented. Once that's straightened out, I'll see if I can tackle one of these WMG pages in the method you suggested.

Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project!Sorry I haven't gotten to Bleach 2 yet. It's been a crazy week, with finals and getting ready for being the best man at a wedding. For how to split it up, I was thinking a 2.1, 2.2, etc. system.
Imagine Rakan applying Calling Your Attacks to doing paperwork.~Anarchy Rakan for the hell of it COMMISSION THIS BRIDGE!~EHKThat's quite all right, I didn't know you had been looking at it. There are other fish that I can be frying. :)
I'm going to start on WMG.Naruto using the Ccoa method.

Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project!I'd just chop it into installments, the way Bleach did it months ago.
Trying to classify it by page leaves it open for a hideous amount of internecine and pointless wrangling: "This guess was jossed, moving to jossed page.", "No, the author left it open, moving back." "It's obviously jossed, re-moving." "How dare you say I was jossed!!" ad nauseum.
Really, anything at causes people to obsess over whether a guess is confirmed, jossed or arglebafulated seems a bad idea.

I wouldn't go borrowing trouble. Currently, if a WMG is jossed or confirmed, then someone will usually add a bullet somewhere below it saying so. These are almost never contested, in my experience.
I don't think massive edit wars over which page it belongs on are that likely, honestly, given how people have reacted in the past.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.WMG.Naruto is done. And now I need a nap.
edit: That's better. Went ahead and fixed Monster.Video Games
JustBugsMe.Mass Effect 2 should now be off the list.

Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project!WMG.Bleach Shikai Edition is done. Could we get another list update?
Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project!Heading the wrong direction, now. See all those 400s that just qualified? It's probably best to get each split below 200, if you can.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittySince I are feeling bad about not having helped with this yet, I shall tackle Eye Scream.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)![]()
Will do. I'm focusing on the massive ones at the top of the list for now (other than the Pantheon page, which has its own splitting effort going on the page discussion), and then I will look at some of the new arrivals.
Just Bugs Me.Bleach is done.
Edit: disregard this edit, I answered my own question.

I'm at a loss as to how to split the Wild Mass Guessing pages, as there doesn't seem to be a clear line of distinction to easily break them up into.
Would it be acceptable to copy what is currently in those pages into an archive page to be locked, like we did with Ad Of Win?
