I think Dementors would be a major Game-Breaker. It's never stated that fire/napalm (or anything other than a patronus) harms them. Seeing as muggles can neither see them or fight them in any way (they can sense their presence, but they can't do anything except try to run) de-souling anyone the wizards want de-souled seems like a simple way of wiping out the enemy leaders quickly.

Yah. Thats never been stated.

Bt, as you said, they would be a Game-Breaker; so I tried to nerf them for the purposes of this thread.

Mind yu, they're still a bloody potent weapon.

The Harry Potter world has literal souls, not just the metaphorical kind. Without a soul, people are basically vegetables.

'Okay, Mary. Yo can chop it off, so that counts as two weeks. Jill, yo get it for two weeks; Renata, yo for three after that.'

I'm not sure what's more disturbing; getting my dick chopped off or the fact that I'm involved with somebody called Reneta. Kino Jr. is firmly attached and plans on staying that way thank you very much.

You were under the impression I'd actually give it to them? Psh, more like a 2 week trial period.

I am not an economist, so I may be wrong, but a sudden massive influx of precious metals cannot be good.

How can having more of a resource be a bad thing? Sure, it sucks for people who invested their money in gold or silver, but for people looking to get their loved one some gold jewlery or buy a set of silverware made from real silver it'd be great news.

I'd like to point out a mistake Pentadragon made on the previous page. Namely, that Muggle victory would be impossible because wizardry is inherited, so they would have to commit genocide in order to win.

This assumes that victory means "killing every person on the other side". Perhaps the goal of the war would be simply to bring wizards under the control of Muggle governments. This would not require extermination. One of the problems with online vs debates, I've observed, is the tendency to simplify war into a question of who can exterminate who.

^In terms of omnicidal capability the muggless win hands down as far as we know, but not many people would call extermination of life on Earth a victory condition.

So yeah, Wizards could be brought to heel and the future generations educated to follow government lines.

This is like... economics 101. It's not even 101, it's stuff I learned from comics.

When the value of something is based on their rarity, instead of it practical application, more of it will collapse its value. Now, most money is no longer tied to the gold standard, but it would still cause chaos.

A better strategy in economic warfare would be fkae muggle money. This is in fact something that has actually been done in past wars.

I thought the value of gold and silver was based on them being pretty?

So the muggles are not planning genocide but want to bring magic users under the umbrella of the local national governments. Is this what we are thinking here?
