If they're robots, why do they even have males? Male is not the default gender anymore than female is. It's just that male secondary sex characteristics are much less noticeable than their female counterparts.

True but the T Fs we usually see are soldiers and soldiers tend to be males.
Its probably more an aesthetics thing in universe. Either that, or their default models happen to coincide with human genders without actually being separate genders. Some robots are just built/born curvy and with higher pitched voices. Possibly to denote them as specialized soldiers built for slightly different functions that the standard Cybertronian.
Prime has certainly done very well with the bad guys, Shockwave was pretty interesting in Animated and was pretty badass in DOTM, so I'm waiting to see what Prime can do with the character. Introducing a minion who is a bruiser on par with Breakdown, has the ruthlessness of Megatron and the ambition of Starscream can only be interesting.
As for Transformer gender, I've always looked at it being similar to how the film series explained that they took on human characteristics that seemed appropriate, Jazz talks as being the "hip" one because that is the closest analogue to his alien personality. "Gender" may not be subject to such personal choices but it's likely the concepts of both male and female are just the closest human equivalent. I'm not aware of any Transformers incarnation that establishes Transformer reproduction as requiring genders, so even that may just be unexplained class differences not too far different from Bumblebee being a scout class. As for the ratio of "male" to "female," that's largely Most Writers Are Male.
No it's most Transformer figure buyers are boys.
My problem with female transformers is this.. Is G1 Bumblebee paticularly male? Apart from the occasional example, like G1 cartoon Ironhide, I've never thought of any Transformer as male except in the presence of an obviously female one. It's not so much the voice actors but the female looking designs (and colour schemes) that bother me. Also any relationships between "male" and "female" Transformers. If there a 60 "male" transformers to 2 "female" transformers and no reproductive value to it thentheres no way it should work out like that. Actualy any robot sexuality disturbs me, and gender just sets peoples minds towards it.
I've seen a few episodes of this show and I think it's quite good.
Am I a good man or a bad man?Its to get female demographic. Except our "Token Female" Autobot just happens to have barings the size of Megatons ego. Seriously shes Autobot Laura Croft.

I'm not quite so sure it's that simple. This is Starscream, after all. odds are that even if it wasn't assigned that way, he'll try to twist it into a plot to help kill off Megatron again, perhaps in a way that he hopes destroys the Autobots at the same time, leaving him in charge of the Decepticons again - especially if someone like Soundwave knows he's suppose to be a double agent and he's responsible for offing the Autobots - and ridding him of the biggest pain in his butt when he was in charge last time aside from Megatron being Not Quite Dead.
I wouldn't be entirely surprised if it's a more than one episode thing, perhaps building up to the season finale when he finally reveals his true colors.
(I doubt the logic of spoiling an official episode synopsis, but since everyone else is) I sincerely doubt the Autobots will come to trust him with the base locations within even a two-parter episode. It is likely a Xanatos Gambit to either undermine Megatron or eliminate the Autobots, but it may be a more genuine Enemy Mine or semi-sincere Heel–Face Turn.

Hey, who knows? It could even be a matter of personal, aesthetic opinion on the part of the Cybertronian in question.
What's precedent ever done for us?
