So the old man is the little boy's grandpa? Cool.
I find it funny that no one is yet reporting this as a sequel to 999, just a "game from the same team with similar themes." I guess very few people actually have played it, because seriously, this trailer is mind-numbingly blatant to anyone who's even touched the original (since it's the same format as the freakin' intro to 999).
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaNot to mention the picture of Zero. >_>
So far the game starts in an elevator and has a rabbit as the villain (?). Yup, there are totally no June/Junpei references there.

I just found out about the sequel. ALL OF MY MONEY ALL OF IT!!!
But I wonder how they'll handle the multi-platform format. If Aksys releases it in america, do you think they'll release it on both platforms? I'm still not sure what portable I should get first when the time comes, though since my DS is out of commission and my PSP is still working fine, I'm heavily leaning towards a 3DS.
In other news, I was just pondering that 999 could make for an excellent mafia game setting. I mean you can already have roles like Ace being the Godfather, Seven being the Detective, June could possibly have a Masonry with Santa or maybe a 1-way masonry with Junpei, etc. Throw in the rest of the original Nonary planners and you could have a mafia team. It's been ages since I last played Mafia, and I've never set up a game. But if I ever do, I think 999 would be an awesome setting. Of course now that we have a sequel, such an idea could be expanded on with more characters.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadI'm kind of annoyed with the multi-platform thing. I mean, I have nothing against it normally, but given the cleverness with which they used the DS format in the first one, it seems like using two different systems would just limit their creativity.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyThe Vita does have a touchscreen, though, so it's not like they'll have to forego the biggest thing.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaI would be so pissed if they pulled that kind of bullshit.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadOn the other hand, if they managed to tie each one to its submedium in a unique way while having the same story, that would probably convince me to buy it twice.

Agreed. Damn, Chunsoft, the first game is twisty enough as is!
Eh, INUH. It's one thing to have completely different games spread across different platforms ala Kingdom Hearts, but to have the same game (but not quite) on different platforms and presumably released at the same time is a bit much. And anyways I doubt Chunsoft would pull that, since chances are one version will sell more than another version, and people would wind up missing on story. It's more likely that they may just have some sort of little things that are exclusive, like a song, or a bonus scene.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadI don't mean exclusive plot elements. I mean exclusive...medium features, if you get what I mean. Like the way the first one used the two DS screens. Not crucial to the plot, just a little touch that made me say "damn, that's clever." Since the two systems are different, it might be possible to tell the same story but change a few of the clever interface details like that.
