A vandal was reported in Ask The Tropers earlier for removing examples from pages. Here is the link to the edits that need to be fixed. [1]. I fixed Cat Smile through Sword Fight but my eyes are crossing.

Any one up for helping out?

The vandal has been banned, so no worries there.

How far back? Some of them seem like natter trimming toward the end.

at least all the ones made on the 20th need to be checked.

Tried to lend a hand by starting at the bottom of the 20th edits but it looks like everybody else caught up.

But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you.

Okay, I went up from the first edit on the 20th to Anti-Anti-Christ. Got all of it and did a little bit of other stuff if I caught it. Guy had a serious hate on for Whately Universe.

No, I was wrong — all of them need to be checked. He's been yanking Whateley Universe examples all along.

October is done.

I grabbed a few more pages. I didn't find any other vandalism to the best of my knowledge.

Great effort, folks. Hard to believe the same guy showed up in the "banned" thread, looking for a chance to do more harm.

Not to disparage the good work (seriously, great work), but at least one reverted edit as vandalism was a good removal (although the intent is debatable). The example removed from Allergic to Evil was genuinely not an example of the trope and shouldn't have been restored.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.

[up] If that is the case, when you removed the example did you explain that in the edit reason? Most of the time when people are repairing vandalism they are more interested in restoring the page to its original state than in assessing the examples. And sometimes when I am repairing vandalism I don't know anything about the subject, just trying to get the paint off the wall.

When I restored the deletion, I did. But it seems like restoring all edits made by a person without considering them falls under the category of "Bad Idea." Just because 99% of a person's edits are vandalism doesn't mean that the other 1% can't have merit.

Note I'm not accusing anyone here, it just baffled the hell out of me this morning when I checked my watchlist and a perfectly good deletion was reverted with the edit reason being "reverting vandalism."

Certainly easier to correct that 1% after the main push, limiting the time the wiki stays damaged by the other 99%. Forcing think-time on us has to be at least one aim of the vandalism.

I think that is why we have watchlists.

I just went through and undid any deletions. He added some things apparently, but skimming indicated that it wasn't Take That! or anything that needed cleaning.
