These drawings and technical innovations are several centuries ahead of their time. This comic has a lot of exaggerated stuff that stretches Willing Suspension of Disbelief, but remains acceptable in the context of a historical drama.
But her atelier shows plenty of inventions from the XV Ith century at least, and, economically speaking, the small community she works in could not possibly support all of these gadgets. It's both an Anachronism Stew and a display of excessive wealth.
Also, that one person could come up with all these things on her own without being locally part of a creative environment of scientists and engineers collaborating and competing is tremendously improbable.
So, yeah, my Willing Suspension of Disbelief, and my immersion, were tremendously hurt.
EDIT: And now my feelings are hurt. So very hurt. Worst part is, Thorfinn was trying his best to be as non-malevolent as possible, in his super-Tsundere way. But, given how he was completely absorbed in his revenge fantasy...

Well, I mean, I expected things to turn out the way they did, but the execution caught me by surprise and made me tear up. This requires music appropriate to when the noble dead come back to stop you from making a grievous mistake, in an absolute moment of heartwarming badassery:

Turns out the Jomsvikings are experiencing a leadership squabble, and Floki is apparently trying to drum up support... For his grandson, who's 10, and as such is too young to even join the order, much less lead it. Then OF COURSE Thorkell pushes for Thorfinn to try his hand at leading the Jomsvikings (since he has the lineage to do so), Thorfinn says nope, walks off, but Floki has other ideas, and sends two ships in pursuit of Thorfinn's little band of friends.
Really, moe Thorkell was the highlight of the chapter, but with that cliffhanger, how long can Thorfinn REALLY remain totally pacifistic, rather than just a Technical Pacifist?

Started reading this. I'm at chapter 9 so far. I think its got a very intriguing couple of characters. I like the scenes with Askellad, he's just so interesting.
