Wait, that line from Boston to Lisbon is a straight line, but it should be curved because of the curvature of the earth. Or is this a very specific projection to make it straight?

If you continue to operate the vehicle in such a manner, 4(d) says the company has the right to notify police that it has been stolen.

Not to worry. I did not continue operating the vehicle in any manner.

One way to do this with a "practical" quantity of cars might be to equip them with flotation devices (giant airbags?) and use them in much the same way as one would build a pontoon bridge, then build a roadway on top. Of course, anyone with any knowledge of how oceans work would understand this to be an awful idea.

[up]The problem with that is that now that modifications are allowed, why don't we just build a pontoon bridge? But since that would not work either, just have a single segment of a pontoon bridge and have it move around. Congratulations, you have a ferry!

Exactly, because this is an inherently silly idea where the best way to achieve it is effectively to not do it at all.

Things you should not do

A lot of these are definitely very What If?, but I'm struggling to imagine a scenario that leads to Randall bringing up Pokémon eggs.

The easiest way to drive from America to Europe is to drive a bunch of cars from Alaska to Khabarovsk or Chukotka, then drive across Russia to Europe. Given the current geopolitical situation, you might not be able to leave Russia, but you'll still be in Europe.

I wonder what would be the most impractical: building a bridge out of crushed rental cars, or gather all these cars in the same place with their engines running until the pollution triggers another ice age so that you can cross over the frozen ocean.

The warming from CO 2 emissions would more than offset the cooling from pollution, I think. It would probably be easier and faster to try and trigger a bunch of volcanic eruptions to trigger a new ice age.

Maybe that's a good question for Randall: how would you trigger a volcanic eruption, and how many would it take to trigger an ice age (need to know by Tuesday).

It would take a lot more than an ice age to freeze the Atlantic Ocean, anyway.
