No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...
I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?
Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here

Yeah the point I was making with that sword is that he'd probably kill himself if he knew what it was doing to him.
And It might be harder to resist the call of Chaos without the youth granted by the sword.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Double post but there's this video that I think people in the thread might enjoy:
It's a look at what it's like being the God Emperor of Mankind. One of the most romanticized characters in the setting.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Oh yeah, I literally just found out about it after I posted that video.
And just finished it.
Yeah so far, it's an improved version of the first, now you actually get to control the Tech Priest characters directly instead of using customized characters.
And I loved how we actually get to see the awakening of a Tomb World from the point of view of the Necrons. Get these damn vermin out of my lawn energy.
Like, yeah the Necrons here were just minding their own business and it was the Xenos obsessed Tech Priest from last game who foolishly broke into the tomb and woke the Vargard up and activated the defenses.
So from the Necron's POV, they are defending their property from interlopers.
And considering who I was fighting, I REALLY enjoyed turning the tables on her. Can't wait to exterminate these wretched amalgamations of flesh and metal.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Another pair of Kill Teams have been revealed: T'au in stealth battle-suits vs Wolf Scouts
. I really like all the tribal leather details on the Space Wolves' Non Uniform Uniforms, which gives them a Star Wars-y Space Pirate look. It would also make it easier to convert these guys into Stormcast or Chaos Warriors.

It's timely that the Tau and Space Wolves are fighting, there was a troper who commented them being hypocrites about humanity was a reason why people prefer joining the Greater Good.
Meanwhile, I'm here wondering why the the fuck that one Space Wolf has a mine in a stealth mission.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"The latter hands down. Geedubs has outright said they are the worst. They embody everything wrong with the Astartes and the Imperium as a whole.
The Minotaurs are bad, but at least their awfulness is limited to taking down other Loyalist Astartes Chapters and taking their stuff. The Marines Malevolent are awful to everyone, especially hostages and refugees and civilians.

Disgusted, but not surprisedIt’s interesting because even the Black Templars have moments of genuine compassion like Gimaldus and don’t actively go out of their way to kill civilians.
The Marines Malevolent are proud of blowing up refugee camps.
Hell the fact that the Imperium even had those shows there just a tiny spark left in the rotting husk.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"The playtester for them did confirm that at least to him, they are made from Perturabo's Gene-Seed.
He even added in the little tidbit that they REALLY hate the Imperial Fists.
Perturabo's Gene-Seed would be perfect for what the High Lords of Terra want from their Space Marines, and they ALWAYS deploy when they have the number advantage.
They certainly are not approved by the Codex Astartes.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"So they say. These are the same guys who claimed the Death Guard destroyed most of their gene seed at their monastery so they TOTALLY had to go to Terra and get the Primaris reinforcements first.
When they don't even have a monastery.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"They have one. It just wasn't destroyed. The Daedalos Krata was in orbit over Terra during that.
It was a bullshit excuse and everyone knew it was bullshit.
The real reason they were there was to support the Hexarchy's coup against Roboute. But when the Master of Assassins revealed he was working for Roboute all along and killed the others and the new Master of the Administratum showed up and ordered them to stand down, the Minotaurs left.
Also, Knightsoflama was talking about the Marines Malevolent, not the Minotaurs. There is speculation that the Marines Malevolent are descended from the Iron Warriors too, but that has no evidence beyond them being assholes.

Disgusted, but not surprisedMonastery as in a fortress, not their main battle barge.
But on another topic, since the Minotaurs are unofficially officially made from Perturabo's Gene Seed, and despite Guilliman expressly forbidding the use of traitor stock, it is pretty funny that the ULTRAMARINES were the ones who gave shelter to most of the loyalist from traitor legions.
So you'd think the G-Man would know that traitor Gene-Seed don't define the loyalties of the Marine.
Then again, he might have ulterior motives like less questions being asked by Imperium forces on the origin of certain Marine Chapters.
"Why yes, Lord Commander, these Sons of the Phoenix are made from Dorn's genetics."
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"The Monastery is their Heavy Assault Carrier.
The Blood Ravens' Fortress-Monastery is also their Battle Barge, the Omnis Arcanum.
The Dark Angels' Fortress-Monastery is also a space-vessel made out of the biggest surviving piece of Caliban.
The Imperial Fists' Fortress-Monastery, the Phalanx, is also a space-vessel. It's a massive Dark Age of Technology star fort.
The Iron Hands don't have a space-vessel Fortress-Monastery, but each Company operates from a huge mobile land-based vehicle on Medusa.

Disgusted, but not surprised

Though the Dawn Blade isn't a Chaos weapon. The lore instead states that it was forged by a long gone xenos race.
