No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...
I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?
Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here

Generally in support of merging Firstborn and Primaris together. I like the use of models from different chapters; the current pages are a touch Ultramarine-heavy.
A question: I notice most of the pictures with two contrast models position them vertically, and while that's definitely necessary for the broader models (e.g., Dreadnoughts) I wonder if the narrower images (e.g., Chaplains, Apothecaries) might not look better side by side.
As they are (I think) pretty much Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs Close Support would be best.
Close Support and Fire Support are the in-universe categories for those squads.
On the page itself, I don't know about splitting the Primaris & Firstborn vehicles. I think putting them together as Close Support, Transports, Armoured Vehicles and Super-Heavy Vehicles would be better.
I really like the Wyrd as I love the movement of her hair and coat.
For the time being, until we get actual trope examples for the vehicles that are missing from the page, I'm good to leave it as is. There's a lot of Primaris vehicles that aren't accounted for, but I haven't been in the game since 8th edition so I'm completely ignorant on their details other than that many of them are essentially upgrades of Firstborn vehicles.
Also, across all the character pages (and the "how to play" section on the work page), there are a TON of references to 8th edition rules that need to be updated.

Okay, here's some of the two-model pics rearranged side-by-side...how do they look in comparison to the vertical ones?
I will be redoing the pic of the Company Champions as the transparency messed up the Firstborn's tabard...do y'all prefer the special edition of the Primaris Champion, or the one that's in the new Company Heroes
◊ kit?
The penultimate 40-year retrospective takes a look at the Screamer Killer
, and the development of early Tyranids in general. I quite like the old Hive Tyrant seen here, and I'd want to see it tweaked the same way as the Screamer Killer. The colour-scheme shown in the artwork
◊ looks interesting, especially on the Lictor.
While I have never been a fan of that Hive Tyrant model I do think it has quite a nice pose (unlike the Tyranid Warrior in that picture
).
I had never thought of it before, but the old 2nd Edition Tyranid colours incorporates colours from the three main contemporary colour schemes (red, bone, and purple).
I really like that intense shade of red in the artwork, somewhere between blood and wine-red, which looks visceral and unnatural at the same time. The purple helps highlight their unnatural appearance, while the bone-white makes their heads resemble skulls. The green mouth-tentacles of the Lictor fits well with the coulour-scheme. All of it makes the Tyranids look more demonic than the usual Insectoid Aliens, so I would definitely want to paint current models the same way. Especially when some of these newest models are very similar to Nightstalkers, so they can be used as supernatural monsters too.
Sorry, just gonna post this question here since I accidentally stumbled about and...
...is it true W 4 K fans got angry because the devs made a point about being anti-neo-Nazis?
My understanding is that it was a loud subset of fans who were annoyed by the statement because they didn't want real-life politics intruding on their fun spaceman battles. There are no doubt fans who see the Imperium as aspirational, but I think that more of the community isn't thinking that seriously about the setting.
Well, in the meantime, I've started an IP thread
to discuss new pics for the First Founding Chapters page.
I've been poking around the 40k fanart subreddit, and I'm in love with this art of looted tanks
and this before-and-after for Chaos Marines
.
Those are definitely cool.
So, question. Would the sections for the Craftworlds and Ork Klanz benefit from getting the same treatment as the First Founding Chapters page, in getting new pics with their symbols moved over the models? Some of the model pics in the entries for the Craftworlds are kinda fuzzy so I wanted to take a stab at fixing them anyway.
The Craftworlds could stand having sharper images, that's true. I'd prioritize keeping a Wraithblade or Wraithguard for Iyanden but otherwise I've got no particular thoughts.
If you can find good model images for the Klanz then sure, I've never been able to reliably track down non-Goff stuff myself.

Here's a couple of test cases for the Aeldari. I used the Craftworld symbols from Lexicanum instead of the ones from the 40K Wiki as they're taken from the Warhammer Community pages, but I can swap them for the other versions if desired.
As far as the Ork Klanz, the pics I currently have would be a mix of Boyz and Nobs, but I can get other options.

I totally forgot there was a preview today because I was too engrossed in watching clips of vtubers make watermelons on youtube, but here is what was revealed:
- new Imotekh the Stormlord
: A nice model
◊ but nothing too spectacular.
- Adeptus Mechanicus codex
and a Skitarii sniper on stilts
◊. A weird looking model but still cool.
- New Kill Team set, Salvation,
featuring Marine Scouts and plastic Striking Scorpions. Scorpions are my favourite Aspect Warriors and these look very nice.
The Imotekh kit is a little too straightforward of a remake of the resin model, but plastic beats Finecast any day so I'll take it.
The new Striking Scorpions are cool...I'll put together a couple of options to replace their pic on that page.
The new Skitarii model may be the goofiest thing GW's come up with in a loooooong time.
EDIT: Here's the two that were the cleanest to edit:

Is there a place for Jump Pack Intercessors, or can they be folded under Intercessor Squads like the Assault Intercessors?
