Greetings, Tropers!

I am Frozen Eagle, and I have been visiting this site for… I’d say about three months now. It is not, however, until just recently that I decided to join officially. I am a rather bizarre young man from Illinois (this will be changing this coming autumn, however), and have found this site to contain ungodly amounts of extremely interesting information. I am an Eagle Scout (Certainly, this has nothing to do with my name! The very idea is preposterous!) Blatant Lies. I would like to officially thank TV Tropes for introducing me to the Order Of The Stick.

Currently, I am working on a sort of Original Fiction (you will not find it anywhere on the internet right now), but I am not going to go into detail on it yet.

For a bit of amusement, some Tropes that I particularly represent include:

     Tropes I Represent
This is a brief list.

Sorry about earlier, what with the no-text thing... Restrictions on new people are coming in a storm. Good way to avoid spammers, though.

'Illinois Eagle Scouts.'

'I hate Illinois Eagle Scouts.'

Kidding, kidding! tongue Welcome to Corneria... er, I mean, TV Tropes. Try Not to Die. Oh, and you don't have to put trope names in brackets.

P.S.: I love your avatar! It's so hammy and Teutonic and glorious!

Urge to destroy world rising.

But seriously, thanks for the reception. Blues Brothers is actually one of my favorite movies.

I know I didn't have to put parentheses on the tropes above, but I did so to separate the trope names and the comments I put with thim. I could have more easily used a hyphen... but I didn't.

Not dying is a thing I am very good at, because I have not failed at it once, IRL.

This ten-minute post lag is really getting me down, though... how long does this torment last?

And thanks on the avatar. I originally wanted to use a different one, but it was way too large. Speaking of Teutonic, I am actually half-German, and can speak the language conversationally. I cannot discuss particle physics in it, though.

Oh, and before I forget... I do like swords!

[up][up][up] Heh, with German, I'm kind of the other way around. I can read a German document full of Antiquated Linguistics and Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness, catching all the Historical In Jokes along the way, but I can't hold two minutes of conversation in the majestic tongue of our eastern neighbours.

(I'm from the Netherlands myself, hence 'eastern neighbours')

And here I was hoping to have finally found someone to discuss some good ol' particles with.

Vielen Dank, Lock. Ich finde TV Tropes echt toll!

I've visited Germany (and Switzerland, and Austria, and Lichtenstein, and Briton), but that (excepting Briton, I've returned there recently) was many years ago. Doner Kebabs were great in Germany. I was only in Bavaria though, though I visited Munich and Regensburg. Most of my family comes from Baden-Württemberg, though.

Speaking of Doner Kebabs, I once knew a German exchange student... he said that he ate one every day for two weeks before coming, because he knew he was not going to find any here.

Hello Frozen Eagle. Pleased to meet you.

Say, if you were in the Boy Scouts, did you ever go to Philmont?

Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.

Completely Normal Guy:

I regret to inform you that I never did go to Philmont...

To be perfectly honest, I went to Owasippe Scout Reservation every year (except one, I went on a high-adventure trip that time), and the time between Owasippe and Philmont is so tiny that I would be pooped when I came back anyway.

Plus, to be perfectly honest, although some of the ideas were nice (scenery, extended camping), the real issues for me were Location and Time. To be frank, the idea of backpacking 70 miles over a week (that is how our troop did it) in the middle of July, in New Mexico, walking up and down mountains, was not my cup of tea. I have problems with heat, and then came the issue with my leg... but that is another story for another day.

To conclude, I'm afraid I never did go to Philmont. I joined OA, got my Eagle, and attended Owasippe's 100th anniversary, but I never went to Philmont.

Heat actually wasn't that much of a problem when I went. It was the middle of monsoon season, and I actually got hypothermia. But I can see how you would be worried about the mountains and the elevation, considering the whole Illinois thing (sorry, I just like to tease people from the flat states).

But yeah, I guess it's not everyone's cup of tea. I'm just the kind of person who doesn't mind when things go horribly wrong because it makes a good story (like that time the campsite caught fire).

[up] You just drop hypothermia so casually, like its an every day occurrence.

[up]It's not exactly an everyday occurrence. In fact that's the only time it has ever happened to me, despite living in a much colder climate than New Mexico most of the time. It just wasn't too severe, and I recover fairly quickly. I climbed the second-highest mountain in New Mexico the next day, so it wasn't that big of a deal.

So all I have to do to earn your respect is climb a mountain after fighting off hypothermia?

In all seriousness though, let's allow this thread to go back to its original purpose. it's for welcoming new people, not bragging about badass exploits.

Goddamit.

Finally found the place to introduce. I've been looking for ages for an introduction place. All forums should have one, but well, I'm okay with this thread. I just never felt confident enough to post anywhere else on TV Tropes until there's a proper introduction with the other forum people.

Ok, I'll get on to introducing. I am 22 years old, and from Sweden. I'm a student, but I'm not certain about what I want to be like other people, though I've been looking at training for journalist, policeman or teacher. I've always known a lot about video games, they're like classic books, songs or movies to me.

And one more thing; since 2010 or so, I started being part of the furry fandom. I couldn't have been happier, with a skyrocketing number of friends.
