Hi, my name is Kyler Thatch, and TV Tropes has ruined my life er, changed my life. Yeah, that's what I meant to type.
I've actually been able to notice common elements and themes and whatnot in fiction prior to discovering this place, to the point where I could guess what's going to happen "because they always do that in fiction". Of course, when I finally stumbled on this site (which was, what, about half a year ago? I don't even remember how it happened), I was surprised to find out that they have names for those things! I've been a troper ever since, adding examples when I see them (or, rather, when I don't), or cleaning up typos and duplicate entries I come across, and so on. It's come to the point where the "random item" button is my friend, and I usually, almost subconsciously, point to the screen and blurt out trope names describing what just happened.
As it says on my contributor page, my point of obsession changes like the weather. Last week it was Azumanga Daioh, before that was Me and My Katamari Damacy, which I'll probably get back to eventually for my 100% completion run. In general, though, I tend to enjoy things (be it a book or a webcomic or an anime or...) that are either philosophical, intensely emotional, or just plain weird. Preferably a combination. I have a particular fondness for Downer Endings, though depending on my mood I probably wouldn't mind an actual happy ending. I'm also a sucker for a well-written romance plot, but don't tell anyone I said that. Also, I... I...
...I figure I should stop here before I ramble on too much. Again.

This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...Hi there. My real name's Lee, I'm 31 and live in Virginia. I found TV Tropes while perusing some site or another (I can't remember now if it was Fandom Wank or 4chan /tv/) and have had waaaaaaay too many tabs open some nights trawling through the goodness.
My entre into this whole nutty Internet fandom thing was via Animaniacs fandom in the late 1990s. Most of my longtime friends are from there. I'm also a computer geek (been using them to some extent since I was in kindergarten), and I either wrote or added considerably to several of the articles under How Video Game Specs Work. I spend way too much time on 4chan as well, though I'll certainly agree with you that /b/ sucks now. (I mainly read the anime boards, /co/, /tv/, /g/ and /cgl/ if I'm looking for a soap opera, lol).
Long ago, A! fandom had a Usenet-based guide called the "Cultural Reference Guide to Animaniacs"; I never thought I'd find a CRG to everything. Well done, guys. :)

online since 1993 | huge retrocomputing and TV nerd | lee4hmz.info (under construction) | heapershangout.comI'm Batman. ...I apologize, that joke was horrible. In fact, I wouldn't even call it a joke. I'm Thomas,16 years old. Born in Belem,Brazil. Came to Canada 2 years ago, right now I'm living in Toronto. I love mystery books, specially the ones with a Great Detective. That's about it.
Hi, my name is Haran. Nice to meet you. Really. I live in Rehovot, Israel and am 20 years old. Been a fan of Irregularwebcomic! and the Order of the Stick for some time now (lurking on the latter's forums) which led, through lot's of link-clicking, to my addiction to this site. Today I came across the Troper Demographics/Most Tropers Are Young Nerds and decided that this was really good company, so I started looking for the Register/Create Account button, which led to me posting this message here. I like computer games and role playing games (D&D mostly) and watch almost no TV at all. The only TV programs I watch (and that, on the internet) are House and Mythbusters. I should probably be going to sleep now, but I still have 4 tabs open... Let's hope they don't have any links that will spark my curiosity.
I'll think of one later...I'm bad at intros, but let's see. I'm Lauren. Age: 19. Gender: Female Location(s): Pennsylvania, DC, and starting next fall, Tokyo Interests: Anime, video games (especially RP Gs), politics, foreign language, anything Japanese
Uhm, most other things relevant can be found on my page, but if anyone has any questions, post them on my discussion (I think), and in general, I'll be happy to answer.

Hey, you guys. I'm a new guy here. So far, everything's peachy. I like this place even more now that I can contribute. But I do have one teensy problem... is there any way to log out of this place and come back later? All I can find is making a new cookie, but no actual logout. If it doesn't work that way, it's fine, I s'pose.
Hello people! I'm Matrix. Yes. Like the movies. Yes. I accept the last two. Have a problem? No? Good.
Let's see... Aspiring author who hasn't really written anything outside of high school which he has graduated. No post-secondary yet. Umm... I have a grade 11 level knowledge of Japanese... Boku-wa Nihongo-de sukoshi dekimasu. And a grade 8 level knowledge of French. Only because here in Canada we're forced to learn it. Je ne parle pas francais. So, aside from those, I have five languages in construction. Yes. Five. I squee at them. So basically, I'm also an amateur linguist hoping to someday scratch off the amateur part.
Oh, and I've sworn off most non-RPG games. Why? I suck at them. Though as should be discernable from the wording, there are exceptions, like Brawl, Zelda, Mario, Kirby, Warcraft III, Starcraft II (When it comes out), and... There are probably others, but I can't remember right now. My friend keeps telling me to get Half Life 2, so that'll probably be an exception if I get it and like it.
Hi everyone,
I'm Heleentje, 18, from Belgium and I've been lurking long enough so I might as well introduce myself. Um, what else... College student (studying Chinese) who discovered TV Tropes last year and since then spent way too much time on it. Also an aspiring author like so many people here. I usually just lurk here and read up on tropes and things I like in general. Nothing else to say... Oh yeah, the cat in my avatar's called Nefertiti.
I'm back!
Well, after the original fora died, and these new "fora" sprung up (with a really slow and unreliable server), and I found out that my then-favorite topic somehow got lost and died (the "Why nerds are sexy, and librarians are hot" topic), and my real life was rather busy, I just kinda disappeared.
But now that the fora seem to be quite functional and up and running and smooth, and I have some time on my hands, yay!
Been lurking here forever, finally just joined since I already spend way too much time here and I'm suffering steadily increasing uncontrollable urges to add stuff.
So... 21 years old, Canadian, in to most forms of media but especially animation, comics and video games, leaning towards the weird as hell Japanese sides of all three.
I like to pretend that I make comics, but I'm really not that good at it. I like to pretend that I make videogames, but anything much harder than RPG Maker is bizarro alien language to me.
And I'm a total Pokemon addict.
I expect I'll be hovering around the anime/manga/videogame areas most of the time, but we'll see how things go.

Eurm...
Anthony, age 21, from the Pittsburgh area of Pennsylvania, the grand ol' US of A.
Been lurking around reading the site for the better part of the past year, and finally, a few days ago, got sucked into the world of YKTTW... That was just yesterday, so here I am now, with multiple add-ons already there, and one trying to start a new trope (that will likely fail, but you have to start somewhere!).
I'm looking at this confidentally. If I pretend you guys accept me, and act reasonable and respectful, you will have no choice but to accept me! No use worrying about being hated, which I always do when joining some new online community. Yar!
So, yeah... Nice to be here? Now to find me some friends...

Well, guess I am a confessed geek, nerd whatever. Lotsa people like that, and while the Troper Tales Love posts are slightly angsty and sad this whole place seems upbeat.
Some basic facts about "This Troper" are that he is Dutch, a guy and easy going.
Fate may pull the strings and who knows what tomorrow brings but tonight, we stand together - Jojo's Bizarre AdventureThank you for purchasing posting in The Forum 3.0!
- Basic installation instructions for new tropers
- Power connections: Your new troper should only be plugged into a grounded discussion. All connected tropers should be plugged directly into the Forum.
- Network connections: New tropers come with flame protection. Instead of running a discussion directly into the ground, you should run comments through an internal filter.
Edited for wikiword accuracy.

Galactic Tomahawk, you remind me of a younger me. XD
I used to make shitty comics and play around with RPG Maker, lol.
I'm not unlike many of the others here:
I spent a good deal of my childhood reading way too much and watching too much TV. Now I've emerged from High School and I have just enough trope experience under my belt to have gotten addicted to this site very quickly. I finally decided to quit (just) archive binging andget an account.
I'm 19, in my third semester of Community College, somewhere around halfway done with my GE stuff, and I plan to get a Creative Writing degree (possibly with a minor in Psychology).
I enjoy all forms of entertainment, and am addicted to most of them: Comics/Manga (which are the same thing), Novels, Novellas, and Short Stories, Poetry (though it isn't my best subject), Video Games (PS 2, 360, Wii, and DS), Movies, and Music.
I've made a few contributions so far, and hope to make many more. And I certainly hope the forums aren't as insane as I imagine they are.
Thanks for reading!

"The only way to truly waste an idea is to shove it where it doesn't belong."I am Capn Con. I like Berserk, Rurouni Kenshin, Dawn of War, everything Nintendo-related, A Song of Ice and Fire, and my computer. I enjoy writing down fiction ideas that I'll never get back to. I can also be a convincing argument for why cynical sixteen-year olds should not be given a computer with an internet connection. And yes, I am aware that I joined a few months ago. I only discovered this thread just now.
[Ao D] reporting in. TV Tropes sucked up way too much of my free time before I got Known and became a troper, and now I fear for the worst. I draw a webcomic about swordswomen killing people in a badass way
. Also, I try to study for an atmospheric science degree from the University of California at Berkeley in between.
Hi all. I am Val Bushido. I spend way too much time on the internet. And I spend way too much time gaming. And I'm a female. Really. Let's get that out of the way, right off the bat. For some reason a lot of netizens and MMORP Gers don't believe that. Um, I come here mainly to read... lots. And I post a little. I also use the wiki Random Item button for writing prompts. I guess that means Trope Fics exist. Sorta. *crawls back to the dark spaces from whence she came*

I've been reading through T Vtropes for a little while now, was pleasantly surprised to see my comic pop up recently and finally decided to actually contribute and become a part of the forums. There are a lot of tropes I've mocked without the aide of this wiki, but now that I've been digging through it I plan on using it as a resource for the comic. Also my own wiki is pmwiki based so I hope to learn some tricks for that as well. Hello to all.

Greetings Tropers, Im Miss Snarky T Bunny...or Amanda, whichever you prefer.
Im currently a high school junior in what is now irritatingly chilly massachusetts. I read until ungodly hours, i watch tv and movies until my eyes hurt and i listen to music until my muse gets angry with me and quits her job temporarily. I also lock my self in my room(lair) or basement (batcave) and wear down the keys on my l of my laptop.
Im a huge fan of Joss Whedon, Star Wars is an integral part of my identity. I know a truly obscene amount about Harry Potter. On thursday nights im generally known to scream/squee/flip the hell out until hoarse over Supernatural (gods love those Winchester boys) and Smallville. I can talk for a really long time about absoluetly nothing. When i grow up i want to be just like Temperance Brennan (tv version) from Bones. If i had a daemon it would probably be a cat of some type. I am a Twilight fan (and i will admit to it being entirely ridiculous but i love it all the same). Elizabeth Bennett (from Pride and Prejudice) is a personal hero. I dont have Batman in my basement...i do have him on my book shelves, on my wall and in my dvd player, also in a cabinet in my kitchen. I will confess to being a drama geek and also a sports fan (Go Sox!!!!). Avatar consumed my life over the summer (im warning ya'll now...im a shipper) and i like vampires...alot.
thats it for now!

A common or garden Emcee N can be found on several internet communities, although his involvement in many of them is peripheral.

I'm fifteen and live on the west coast of the US.
Hooray!
I'm getting older, but my favorite movies are still relevant! I bet you like Videodrome too!
Mathematics Is A Language.

I'm The Mikado, I'm 21, live in the east coast/great lakes.
I like anime but hate Shojo and Gainax's productions. [[Neon Genesis Evangelion]] is a favorite target of me. I'm a fan of Haruhi and Lupin III.
I like gaming but mostly portable games(DS FTW). I'll also like some more classic games(SNES 4 lyfe).
