RE: Charles II: I'm so inspired for a creepy horror movie/comic/novel/SOMETHING DAMMIT about a sinister, royally fucked up court with some religious creepiness and political conspiracy thrown in.
Heh, I read that article on Charles II the other day. Found it pretty amusing in a Dead Baby Comedy kind of way. I want to have a scene in my novel where we're going to be introduced to some sugary-sweet Disney princess type, and then it turns out she's the result of generations of inbreeding.
no one will notice that I changed thisHmm. Don't know how to make it something other than a Shoot the Shaggy Dog story, though. An exercise in revulsion!

@Solstace: I'm the same way. Think I said that before.
"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."@ Zyxzy: You forgot a pothole thar.
Not really. England had the Glorious Revolution, and even "Sun King" Louis XIV had some culture going on.
Russia would be the other contender for "Most Creepy Sinister Royal Court", but they Peter the Great made up for it in badassery.

I have no idea who that's actually associated with but I know that it's Code Geass so that's close enough okay?

What's the frequency Kenneth?|In case of war.@Zyxzy: Perhaps the political & religious intrigue, but I hear that the Spanish Hapsburgs had the most inbreeding and their court is always described as physically gloomy and dark. Charles II's first wife died of depression, "stifled by the sepulchral court". Spain was supposed to be the most powerful European nation in the 1400-1500s, but went into decay after the Armada deal.
Also, The Spanish Inquisition. And freakin' exorcisms. The only thing I can think of to compare to that in terms of weirdness is Rasputin (and that's Russia, the other contender for "Creepy Court").
And who gives a crap if it's not accurate, it'd make a good story

He had to bow to the party eventually, which was pretty sad. I wouldn't have voted for him if I was capable.
