Classic series, new series, Whoniverse, expanded universe... 'tis all welcome here.
Please be considerate and tag spoilers wherever possible.
- Tag all spoilers for the latest episode, for any previews or content leaks, and for all off-topic works (e.g. if comparing a Doctor Who story to a Star Trek one)
- Spoilers for a season finale (or for any standalone special or expanded universe story) should remain tagged for at least a month after it's released.
When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which show and episode will they spoil?).

It has been announced that the next series composer will be the relatively unknown Segun Akinola. Having looked up some of his stuff on Soundcloud, I can say that I'm already quite excited for his take on the theme.

We're all still aliens.I'm kind of attached to Murray Gold's compositions, but I just checked out the new guy's stuff on soundcloud and I like it a lot. Looking forward to what he does for doctor who!
The internet is a waste of time, and that's exactly what's right about it-William GibsonRandom thing I found.
Doctor Who Alum Tom Baker Wasn't Happy During The 50th Anniversary Special
.
Seems like Matt was the only person who would give him the time of day.
Well, we all know that Tom was apparently something of a prima donna in his final season, and kinda alienated his cast-mates at the time (including the guy who played Adric in a major Broken Pedestal kind of way), but that was 37 years ago, so it's odd he'd be treated like that now.
Still, it's good to hear Matt did right by him...wait? Just Matt? What about David?

One Strip! One Strip!Yeah considering that it was one scene that he did (I’m still a little salty they didn’t get the living classic doctors to record new audio for the big scene) it’s entirely possible that he didn’t interact with any other cast members, just crew and production staff.
Also it’s also entirely possible that others were just busy and worn out, Matt has enough energy that he’d be able to keep going and make a big happy introduction, but I can totally understand if the others were just busy getting their job done and didn’t feel a need to make a big thing about Tom coming by.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranI feel like Tom Baker expected it to be like that dream sequence Davison has in Five(ish) Doctors Reboot.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Couple things I found on Twitter:

No Doctor Who has yet been shown on Jon's birthday, but DID YOU KNOW that Jon's godfather was the actor Henry Ainley, father of Master actor Anthony Ainley?

Officially the images of the new sonic were "leaked", although the images look like they could be publicity photos, the way they're posed. I can see already it'll be a Base Breaker, love-it-or-hate-it. And yes, there is a certain type of joke that will inevitably get made about it and the new Doctor being female. Not sure anything would have prevented that, so maybe they just decided to go with it? At least one vid claims to have heard that it isn't going to be her permanent official sonic, just a temporary bodge.
The pictures seemed to come out about the same time as the video clip. At first I thought the clip was a "leak" rather than a genuine leak, but from what I've heard the BBC have been pretty aggressive about taking it down and hunting for the source, so maybe not.
All of the reactions I've seen so far to the clip have been positive! There were even a few reviewers who said they were originally against there being a female Doctor, but that the clip has reassured them that she really will still *be* the Doctor. So, even if it wasn't deliberate, looks like it was a good thing overall. It's been *way* too long since we've had *anything*, it's nice to get a little something to whet out appetites!

Fresh-eyed movie blogApologies for the double post, but the Series 11 teaser is out.
Alright, fellow USA Tropers who have BBC America on cable; Are y'all excited for Shada tonight?
"My light shall be the moon, and my path the ocean, my guide the morning star as I sail home to you...."I don't understand the love for Steven Moffat-verse of Dr. Who. As a matter of fact, I highly dislike Moffat's take on the Whoverse.
I'd argue Russel T. Davis did a better job at creating more cohesive continuity per episode than Moffat, especially whe it comes to stingers/cliffhangers, where Davis uses more laden foreshadowing while Stephen Moffat relies very heavily on deus-ex-machina's and "who are you again?" surprise charater appearances with no proper introductions. As a matter of fact, keeping up continuity with Moffat in a plot-sense is almost an achievement in futility, because there are so many ass-pulls per second that it breaks suspension of disbelief and the groundedness of the story. And yes, I know Dr. Who is a childrens show...but Moffat treated the scripts in his run like absolute nonsense.
I LOVE that Jodie is keeping her accent. She is certainly keeping that youthful exuberance of the Doctor, I can't wait to see people react to her, especially when she proves to be a genius ditz.
Nice to see a series starting without moping. Maybe it's a tonal shift from Capaldi being so very tired and wanting to just die his heroic death already, but hay, the Doctor is going through something new and can't help but be excited about it.
Not sure shown off in this trailer, but the sets look really good! Lots of nice steampunk aesthetic.

If you look around, you should be able to find a leaked clip of Jodie in action, there's one part where she channels a bit of Eccleston. It's cute.
