Speaking of stuff being released on discs, I'm not sure if y'all heard but they're putting out Tom Baker's first season on Blu-Ray.

They can do that? I thought it was impossible because of the way it was produced.

They're just fucking digitally upscaling it which is a great procedure that always works really well and doesn't at all leave you with just the same product but more noticable grain

Hey, quick question - does anybody here know of any articles or studies that have discussed Doctor Who's intended audience and demographics? It's for a paper I need to write.

Damn near everyone to write for the programme has publicly opined about whether it's a kids show.

Are there any good ones in particular?

Thank goodness I remembered the name "Mary Whitehouse". Searching for "Doctor Who's worst critic" turned up a lot of Moffat-bashing.

Anyway, Mary Whitehouse was one of those kinds of people who have nothing better to do than write letters complaining about how what's on television is going to destroy society, and had a particular hate-on for Doctor Who being too violent and scary in the 70s, but she'd be worth looking into as someone who very strongly believes the show is for children.

I never got why the decayed Master is considered the same incarnation as the Delgado Master. He doesn't retain the same traits as that specific Master. It comes off more that he's the result of Delgado regenerating a 13th time...and giving a damn good reason why Time Lords stop at 12.

Well he's only around for the one serial, so its hard to establish his specific traits as opposed to Simm's portrayal, or Missy.

Plus its never really stated on-screen he's the same one. Delgado's regeneration only appears in a comic with Twelve.

I just wish we could someday see Macqueen's take on the character on-screen someday.

Maybe Pratt/Beavers is like Darth Sion from KOTOR where he keeps his body together through sheer willpower and hatred, but can't be regarded as "human/Time Lord" or even "alive" in any real sense.

Has it ever been established how the Master learned to transfer his consciousness into another body?

I can't recall him ever doing that. The decayed Master uses the powers of the Keeper of Traken to merge his body with Tremas, a native of Traken. How he survived execution by the Daleks and turned into that shapeshifting thing in the tv movie is what's never been explained.

So, going back to that project a few days ago, I'm trying to find a clip of each of the Doctors that does a good job of showcasing their personalities. I've got something for 1, 2, 3, 7, 9, 11 and 12, but I need something for the others. Any recommendations?

Not to dredge shit up again, but what personality are you wanting with Ten? Mood swinger, angsty or genocidal hypocrite?

The problem with 8 is that most of his best moments are audio only. Maybe you can use a photo of Mc Gann plus a voice clip?

Eight's love of fantastic shoes would be a good choice.

There's also his putting a gun to his own head to keep a cop off his back (one of the few times the Doctor takes a gun, but he still finds a more peaceful use for it).

...without going into an anti Ten rant either. We got ourselves into quite a fury against that guy, and I think it's hard to see anything positive about him.

Ten feels like he should be the easiest.

With Four, there's so much to choose from, and Five and Six have the complication of having, as I understand it, not too many good stories.

How so? I mean, we've spent so much time raging at him—and the topic was the character at his best—that I don't really know if we can give a positive spin on Ten.

Alright, let me put it this way - objectively speaking, what is an iconic Ten moment? Something everyone in the fandom remembers?
