Classic series, new series, Whoniverse, expanded universe... 'tis all welcome here.
Please be considerate and tag spoilers wherever possible.
- Tag all spoilers for the latest episode, for any previews or content leaks, and for all off-topic works (e.g. if comparing a Doctor Who story to a Star Trek one)
- Spoilers for a season finale (or for any standalone special or expanded universe story) should remain tagged for at least a month after it's released.
When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which show and episode will they spoil?).

It sounds like a crack fic premise, TBH- Bag Enders meets Doctor Who by way of a Samurai Deeper Kyo omake?
So I've noticed rewatching old Who is that it has an Unbuilt Trope thing going on with the Doctor and his relations to his companions, looking like a deconstruction of modern Who. His first companions never wanted to come with him at all and were forced into it, One is often seen as smug and intimidating, and more often than not his hubris and supposed superiority to humans is called out by his companions and they only started to tolerate him after he was knocked down a few pegs in humility. For instance, Shore left because she got sick of feeling like the Doctor's ego-enhancer, as she was used mainly so he could demonstrate just how clever and smart he was compared to her.
The Daleks for instance in their first serial were treated as bulky, inefficient, and their designs were taken to pieces. Not only can they not climb stairs with models like that, they need to be connected to the floor to have any momentum or energy at all. And Susan can't stop laughing at how monotone and grating their voices are.

Never as of their first story, I think is what is being implied there. Things changed when they became popular but it wasn't really an organic growth from their original concept so much as an organic growth of 'holy shit we need to get these guys back in the show.'

No, the main character in Prometheus played by Noomi Rapace is named Elizabeth Shaw. There was a Doctor Who character in the first four serials of the Pertwee era also named Elizabeth Shaw. Also a scientist. Played by Caroline John. Names The Same.
...I have mixed feelings on the movie. On the one hand I liked it, on the other hand the scene where they're disappointed the giant extraterrestrial head isn't a living alien they can talk to and decide to electrify it to see what happens is one of the dumbest and most frustrating sequences in the history of media for me to watch.
...Most astronomers I know would be pretty goddamned pleased with finding evidence of extraterrestrial life even if it was dead. I don't care so much about getting scientific "facts" wrong but the way people screw up the scientific method and the scientific community so severely is just. And anyway, you do not just do random shit to see what happens without even a fucking hypothesis! And you could just take slides of the damn thing to examine! Samples!
...But yeah, it was a pretty good movie.

I always love H.R. Giger's art and designs. David was amazing.
And there's just something about the med pod scene that is just beautifully fucked up and deliberately uncomfortable to watch in a very visceral way that hasn't really been done that well since maybe the chestburster scene from the original Alien.
Which had John Hurt in it so yay, back on topic.

The Daleks became what they are today before the end of the Hartnell era, though. All that's really happened since is some additional concepts, like Davros or the Dalek Emperor. Well- post time war Daleks are pretty much invincible, which was never really a thing with classic Daleks, so that's something.
The Dalek Emperor was in a comic and that's where that came from.
But now, the daleks have a parliamentary democracy where all daleks are created equal and there is a standard of one dalek, one vote except the only thing they ever vote on is "exterminate?"
The nitty gritty policy details are handled by the Cabinet of the Daleks.
Its amazing the kind of social progress you can make when your emperor gets blown up.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI just rewatched utopia. John Simm is an amazing master. Also the "You've got a hand in your bag/that's my hand" thing is one of the best exchanges ever
