Classic series, new series, Whoniverse, expanded universe... 'tis all welcome here.
Please be considerate and tag spoilers wherever possible.
- Tag all spoilers for the latest episode, for any previews or content leaks, and for all off-topic works (e.g. if comparing a Doctor Who story to a Star Trek one)
- Spoilers for a season finale (or for any standalone special or expanded universe story) should remain tagged for at least a month after it's released.
When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which show and episode will they spoil?).

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.River is actually a worthwhile deconstruction of the tropes people moan about Moff using on women.
She's uses sexuality in a power sort of way, but her stories make it clear that for portions of their relationship this is actually the only power she has over The Doctor, and she doesn't actually have much confidence in them 'hiding the damage.'
She has 'psychopath' tendencies, but they're shown that despite being captivating, are actually less than glamorous; they deprived her of a childhood and a meaningful life on Earth, and she's acknowledged a few times that it worries her that these rub off on The Doctor (Notably in Impossible Astronaut and Angels Take Manhattan) and actually refuses to travel with her husband for this reason. She is a brilliantly subtle Stepford Smiler and people don't give her credit for it because her mask is so good at holding attention.
Considering how much love the Moff has for deconstructing characters it was jarring when series 7b left it out it in favour of being easy to access, hopefully Series 8 Moff will stop second guessing himself and overthinking and just write what he's good at and we'll see what it really means to be Clara 'Oswin' Oswald.
Are you saying that "deconstructions" lack in terms of accessibility? I don't believe that's true.
But she kills herself to save him.

...Why does this sound like a Faction Paradox plot?
...Goddammit, I mean, Faction Paradox is typically devoted to social justice on some level. It doesn't shove women in refrigerators to make men sad, and there's typically some level of ethnic and sexual diversity. I do not want a crossover with filth like Supernatural.

SPN's on my list of 'things to watch if they turn up on bbc three'. It looks like it might interest me and I'd like to see what everyone's rambling about on tumblr, but I won't waste time looking for it.
The internet is a waste of time, and that's exactly what's right about it-William GibsonThe show hit a sweet groove around its third season, and stayed there for a while, but I'd never call it a good show. It has basically fallen apart now though.
But yeah, there were some great episodes going on for a while, and the fourth/fifth seasons achieved a murderer's row of tv genre writers.
There are plenty of reasons to dislike the show though.

Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great

...I don't get it. On a scale of one to Ten (ba dum tish) how ashamed of myself should I be for not getting it?
