This is the thread for discussion of The Order of the Stick plot, characters, etc. We have a separate thread
for discussing game rules and mechanics. Excessive rules discussions here may be thumped as off-topic.

Funny. Of course Spot is for seeing that other Rogue sneaking up behind you, for which Search is pretty much useless.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Haley should thank her lucky stars she didn't inherit that particular trait... Must've got her Wis score from her mum.
Wow, Ian is truly Chaotic Stupid.
Currently taking a break from the site. See my user page for more information.Honestly, this has gone better than I expected.
Although I'm not sure why Tarquin would care about Ian. Wasn't he just kept prisoner as part of an old deal he made with a Thieves Guild on the other side of the world? I guess maybe Tarquin's lawful enough to want to avoid backing out of a deal like that, no matter how old it is, but I never got the impression that he actually cared about Ian in any personal sense.

Talk about idiocy on Ian's part and not the kind we know Elan for.
PS. to respond to this.
No offense, but what's that got to do with my statement about Belkar? Were you supporting what I said or did you think Belkar actually committed a Lawful act by pretending to actually value the rules enough to play by them?

Belkar has certainly performed Lawful acts and he has performed Good acts. He can do both of these while Chaotic Evil. Given how the strip tends to work there will probably be some kind of visual effect if his alignment changes.
Ian needs to chill. This is actually his best chance to strike back. He's just got to be patient and ride things out until he has his freedom.
What he does after that, and whether it works is another story.
Still waiting for that other shoe to drop and screw them over.
One Strip! One Strip! My money is that Tarquin has some kind of setup or hustle running with respect to Ian and he's going to be very put out when he realizes just who he set free. Ian didn't keep getting recaptured by accident.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"He's the obvious plant. Too obvious?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Yeah, it's quite the pain. Two ninja fighting each other, yet neither knows where the other is.
I had that scenario in a battleground match once. Me and two other rogues on my team running around the enemy's flag room in stealth mode trying to get close enough to spot the two enemy rogues we knew were in there on defense before they could get close enough to see us.
One chain of one-shot kills later, I'm running the flag back alone, only to get one-shot right outside our own flag room by one of the enemy rogues who beat me back there and was lying in wait.
Good times.
As a repeat Untwist Sucker, I've given up on saying 'too obvious' for a while.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.Does anyone remember the trope for when someone says something, but were interrupted in the middle of saying something by being turned into stone and then they started saying it again when they came back?
Also, nice escape by Ian.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."

Who needs spot? Just use search and take 100 times as long!
