This is the thread for discussion of The Order of the Stick plot, characters, etc. We have a separate thread
for discussing game rules and mechanics. Excessive rules discussions here may be thumped as off-topic.

Or, similarly to the above, it might be in line with my own pet theory: That the monster comes from another setting—and in this case is present in multiple settings. Xykon presumably read up on one version of the Monster, but not the version that we have here.
Hmm... now that has me wondering what beings have been depicted as considering dwarves to be a delicacy—that does sound familiar!
I think that I recall Fighting Fantasy orcs considering dwarven... intestines, I want to say? -To be a delicacy—but a fairly basic orc such as Fighting Fantasy has seems unlikely.
My Games and Asset PacksSure, dwarves sound delicious, but then you remember how fatty they are...
I thought the joke was "The Monster in the Darkness eats virtually anything but has recently realized there are things he shouldn't eat"
Previously he mentioned opposition to eating babies, not because they're sentient, but because they're infants. He's just recently expanded his "do not eat for ethical reasons" list.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing. So, we are back to the "Rich is vegetarian" line.
Fjón þvæ ég af mér fjanda minna rán og reiði ríkra manna. There's a new set of freebie answers
up on Patreon to questions from Rich's supporters. There's nothing particularly world-shattering here, but we do get some more insights into his creative process. The best answer is about which of his characters would be most attractive if drawn in a conventional style.
It also implies that Rat may have helped the Dark One out of either pragmaticism or possibly even altruism rather than him being a rat bastard.
The Twelve Gods answer is amazing, oh my god.
The entire group is True Neutral because their worshippers are selected by astronomical birth sign, so a wide variety of people just invoke them for whatever the fuck. "Rat would want me to stab Bob in the kidney." "Rat would want me to give Bob medical aid." "Hi, I'm Bob. Rat wanted me to bake bread before some asshole stabbed me in the kidney."
That's the best thing.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.As someone born in the year of the rat and who seriously considered getting pet rats, I am pleased with this answer.
Writer, or something. Push the button, if you dare. 🖲️Eh, "which character is the most attractive" is a normal thing to wonder about in media that don't give its characters detailed looks. In the context of OotS I've seen it calculated based on approximate charisma score minus the character's social skills and force of personality, which puts Miko somewhere on top.

Apathy is Death. Worse than Death, because at least a rotting corpse feeds beasts and insects.Miko is apparently so pretty that her mere presence among the party caused Roy to lightswitch from well-intentioned and rational team leader to "How hard do I need to betray everyone for a date?" based on her looks alone.
Trying to seriously calculate maximum attractiveness of female characters based on stats is a weird thing to do. But I think Miko is the only character whose physical attractiveness ever affected the plot?
Wait, no, Elan did too. He's been given an opening to help the party just because he's so goddamn handsome at least once.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Haley seduced that goblin teenager that one time, to lure him close enough to knock out with a headbutt.
But Roy has a girlfriend, and even Durkon got laid. (And boy did that affect the plot.) I don’t think any of our heroes are supposed to be unattractive.

I think Belkar may be more of a Kavorka Man than a good looking smooth talker.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise. If Mr. Scruffy is so handsome, where's his seduction scene, huh? Checkmate.
Writer, or something. Push the button, if you dare. 🖲️

Given the nature of the comic, I think it's most likely something that ws in an early edition that got revised out at some point.
