This is the thread for discussion of The Order of the Stick plot, characters, etc. We have a separate thread
for discussing game rules and mechanics. Excessive rules discussions here may be thumped as off-topic.

I half-expected the joke to be Bloodfeast had died in the bag or something, except Belkar hasn't been that neglectful of his animal pals.

Yeah, given that Serini literally called Haley the leader, it's best to assume that Serini thinks Haley is the leader.
Also, all of the shots she's missing are being fired at Haley. As a rogue, Haley has Uncanny Dodge, so she retains her Dex bonus to AC even when flat-footed or attacked by an invisible foe.
That's what's happening here. Haley's sharp rogue senses mean she can dodge blowdarts from an invisible assailant. The hard counter to rogue shenanigans is another rogue.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Right, if Serini gave up on Haley and took out the dwarves, who are the only ones who can give her the data she needs to counterattack, Serini could knock out the rest of the party pretty much at her leisure. Heck, get V after the dwarves and she can have Sunny turn the antimagic off, then charm or paralyze the rest. But Serini seems to think she ought to go by perceived seniority.
@Alekos - I don't think Lizardmen/Lizardfolk/Lizardpeople/Whatever are copyrighted, but Yuan-ti are, and the theory is that this is what Malack is. One thing I find interesting about that idea is that as I understand it, Yuan-ti are Always Chaotic Evil, so this would be another way in which Malack is a Double Subversion of Obviously Evil.
Nice reference to/subversion of the Bloodfeast unleashed theory in the comic.

Serini having difficulties due to misconceptions (thinking Haley is the leader and attacking her, when she should probably be targeting other members) certainly falls in line with her actions so far.
She thinks she knows everything about the Xykon situation, but is missing key bits of information.
One Strip! One Strip!I still hope and pray and think the probability that Bloodfeast will be unleashed is quite high (it would be a waste of potential otherwise), but it's a bit early in the arc for that.

You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midHaley took command and the others are more or less deferring to her even as they try to come up with solutions on their own. She's functionally the leader right now.
And yeah Malack was probably a Yuan-ti pretending to be a lizardman. Or just wearing a robe and not correcting people when they make that assumption.
Way back in the thread when it was actually relevant to what was going on I remember someone stating it's been confirmed that Malack was just a snake-version of a Lizardman.
But I don't know where to find that piece of Word of God so feel free to ignore this post.

Yaunt Ti range from the Naga look (human torso, snake below the waist) or are completely humanoid with weird eyes.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Yuan-ti Abominations (the ones with no legs) sometimes only have two arms. They do however have an insane Level Adjustment that would have cranked Malack's already bad LA (from being a vampire) into the stratosphere.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff.I feel sorry for Roy, with Serini totally blowing him off.
The only reason he's even unconscious is because he tried to reasonably talk things out, perhaps because he thought whoever this is was one of the legitimate gate defenders and he figured it was a misunderstanding.
He was half right.....and technically fully right, since Serini is badly misunderstanding multiple aspects of the situation.
One Strip! One Strip!Oh wait, yeah, it's only two arms. It's demons that start getting a ton of arms. Or devils? Can't remember what a Marilith is, and that's not snakey.
And an Abomination would really have pumped up that HD. 9 RHD, +7 LA, and at least an 11th level Cleric to cast Harm. Having an ECL of 27+ didn't seem terribly likely; I remember the discussion on the GitP forum when it came out.
I really love that last panel. It's not quite Funny Background Event because Haley's been just as much the focus of the strip as Elan & Belkar are, but there's just an unspoken "when you two are quite finished chatting..."
(PS, can Elan use the 3.5e version of bardic inspiration or was it explicitly magical in that edition?)
Also
Elan's "carrying a torch" gag.
Now that Bloodfeast has been mentioned, he has to come out at some point, right?
Writer, or something. Push the button, if you dare. 🖲️"Summoning" Blackwing is just V remembering Blackwing exists. It's a running joke about wizard players and their familiars. It stopped being a thing after Character Development prompted V to recognize Blackwing as a living creature, not just a class feature.
Blackwing is currently outside of the true tunnel and will not be relevant to this fight.
No, Bloodfeast being mentioned does not mean they'll figure out a way to use him. Rich likes putting popular fan ideas into the story to explicitly refute them. He does this all the time.

I'm just waiting for Belkar to ride Bloodfeast again...
