Hmm... my assumption is Serini as well. The resigned comment is not about the world ending, but rather ceasing to exist as a result of fulfilling one's purpose, which would work very well for some sort of undead or spirit that's been tasked with protection of the gates and, having fulfilled their purpose, going off to either an eternal reward or their native plane, where they will be subsumed among the elemental essence.

I am thinking it could be dragons. As from the grabbing of paladins the invisible figures look large.

Dragons also had colored speech bubbles.

Hm... maybe. Would make sense for Serini to put some sort of intelligent monsters in charge, and dragons are both smart and long-lived.

The problem with that theory would be the poison darts. Dragons have a host of spell-like abilities (or just plain spells) that could have done the job more effectively.

Worth noting that striking with poison darts from invisibility seems suitably like a Rogue's method of handling this situation. Which would lend further credibility to the idea that it's Serini.

There's also some serious magic mojo at play to keep that invisibility going trough those attacks.

Greater Invisibility is a 4th level Bard, Sorcerer, or Wizard spell.

I think a decades-old Rogue who may actually be Epic-level can probably scrounge up a wand or magic item or something.

I thought Greater Invisibility would only maintain Concealment through actions, not full invisibility? Like, you needed an even bigger spell to do that?

EDIT: Woop, nvm. Must've been thinking of a different edition.

I'm thinking some variety of outsider, or at least something non-humanoid. Weird speech balloons and being resigned to non-existence but still enacting some kind of plan doesn't put my brain in a 'Serini' kind of place.

Y'know, now that you say that like that, that scene where they fought Frost Giants en route to the Dwarven Council feels awfully foreshadow-y. Foreshadowing just how dangerous the Flight+Greater Invisibility combo can be on a rogue, to be precise.

If this is Serini, it might not even be magic. An epic-level rogue is more than capable of making such ridiculous Move Silently and Hide checks so as to remain completely invisible even while talking to someone.

Also, I just realized I'm still not used to Xykon having a long neck.

And is it me or does his lower jaw look like it's actually separate from his upper jaw? Can anybody see the hinge that's supposed to connect the two?

Edit: "Sigh. I guess we're finally doing this, huh?"

That's intriguing.

So we all agree that the new player is likely Serini then?

The only question is why attack the Paladins?

There are probably a lot of reasons, maybe things we aren't aware of yet or maybe she came to share Girard's grudge against Soon and his Paladins as well.

We won't know until the next (and last) book starts. February 3rd is a long time away. I gotta make sure not to fall too far behind on this thread.

Indeed. The only reason we suspected she was dead was because of Xykon possessing her diary.

Even then, there was no real proof of that. Then again, there's no proof this person is her or connected to her.

If they were listening in before taking out Lienne and O-chul, they know the order is coming, so I wonder if they plan to capture them as well?

Not much is off the table by sheer virtue of knowing nothing about who they are or want they.

So, regarding the other characters in this strip, five or six doors per night is a rather drastic acceleration, given that when last we saw Team Evil, one door was plenty. Has Redcloak learned to be more efficient with his spell choices? Has he gained a level or two and has more spell slots to work with? Both?
