Did we ever get a solid bead on just when DingK was separated from the main Castle? Was it during The Other's attack (which would be the logical conclusion), or some other point?

Mostly, I'm curious as to just how fast he could pivot from murder to shipping.

I'm guessing Higgs wasn't sure it was a dinky version of DK at first because of the lack of defense mechanisms.

Edit: That page I linked says the mechanism in question was taken from DK not long after "the destruction", and that's where Dinky DK's pattern came from.

Though it occurs to me that the Castle, even a fragment thereof, should know that Higgs goes undercover generally and shouldn't be addressed as "General" unless he's presenting himself as such. Kind of odd to me that it did so.

Given Der Kestle's ego, that's a maybe/maybe not. It might have just been trying to establish a pecking order where being Castle Heterodyne trumps everyone but Agatha.

Maybe at the time of the attack he wasn't in a period of deep cover. After all, with the Heterodyne Boys around, there was relative peace.

I thought it was more that it was to show that there are very clear limits to it based on the fact that it's a fragment of the Castle - there are very telling gaps in terms of what it should know/do because of its incompleteness.

Reading some of the past pages... Now I'm wondering if the DK demolition had something to do with the time-traveling antics of the Muse of Time and/or Lucrezia -if they aren't just the same character.

And it's kind of a shame Voltaire didn't achieve a second breakthrough. I wonder if Collette will? (First and second Masters of Paris, since it's been a couple of years.)

This is just an impression on my part, but it seems that there haven't been any more second-stage breakthroughs in a long time. Unless that's what happened to Lucrezia.

She tried to deliberately induce one in herself and it went Horribly Wrong/Too Right.

Now that we know for sure Higgs is a Jaeger and a General, this page takes on a whooollllle new meaning.

It appears that itty bitty DK forgot he met Tarvek already. Of course, Tarvek was dressed as a complete dork at the time...

re: Blowing Higgs' cover. It wouldn't be out of character for the Castle to throw around information it really shouldn't so it'd have an excuse to execute the witnesses. Sort of invoking I'd Tell You, but Then I'd Have to Kill You, but minus the reluctance or warning.

As I recall, even when that page first came out people were talking about what it meant if Higgs was the secret general. Ditto the one preceding it ("And they used to be men. Sometimes even they forget that.")

I hope this has something to do with Violetta. Like Vi limped her way back to Paris, gravely injured, and raised an alarm with Seffie about Gil being poached by Albia in order to secure her aid for Agatha. Also hoping Vi didn't get killed. That would be a crime.

That was my first thought (that it had something to do with Vi), but it doesn't strike me as likely. A couple hundred feet of water vertically and a minimum of 25 miles (assuming the spark dome is where Dover is today, which is a best case scenario, it's more like 90 if the dome is in the London-ish area) of swimming is quite the feat to "limp through". I suppose "Smoke Knight" is a response, but it'd be quite the feat of endurance (not to mention the water pressure getting out of the dome).

I don't think she's dead, though. Her body vanished mysteriously off-panel, after all, and I'd put playing possum and staying low more in the Smoke Knight's wheelhouse than running marathons underwater.
