Also, while I can't confirm any of this lacking them myself, the trope page says that the novels say that Bang's pirate crew are all female. That said, yeah, there were men among the crew that Zeetha killed. So, I honestly have no clue, but I'll stick by the idea that said pirate is not one of Bang's. Not like there are shortages of pirates.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. If I don't recall wrong it is that Bang was into the "family business" so while her crew is an amazon brigade it wouldn't be out of place that the "port" or base, specially if run by the family, to be more of a mixed genders port fortress.
Well here goes nothingIt's never been addressed specifically in-comic, but the Foglios have released extra stuff saying that Bang's family was once the rulers of a kingdom but her father, I think, got overthrown. She became a pirate because she was trying assemble enough materials and troops to reclaim her throne.

In which Agatha is bad at incentivizing.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.the whole reason this arc exists is to explore the true meaning of what it is to be a Jager and hopefully to turn this new guy into a permanent one.
DoodlesThe Jagerdraught uses water from the Dyne, which they presumably do not have..
http://www.mansionofe.comthat's true....wonder if one of the Jager's has some on him. Agatha also drank some jagerdraught water. would it reside in her blood? Either way, a loyal pseudojager is a VERY good thing to have while in Albia's domain.
DoodlesWell I think Agatha's the culprit. Or rather, Lucrezia is the culprit, because Agatha's locket malfunctioned and Lucrezia's been in control and masquerading as Agatha for the past RL year or so. It makes perfect sense when you think about it!
This is my new favorite character of this arc.
I really don't think so: Agatha has had very little time alone. Certainly not enough to make any dingbots to do anything she cannot do herself while avoiding company.
If Lucrezia is involved, it's not via Agatha.
It occurs to me that Agatha might be able to reverse engineer what makes the Jagerdraught work from samples from Jenka and Da Boyz.... but it wouldn't surprise me that it would require liquidating (and possibly liquefying) at least one (and possibly all) of them. And Agatha would never do that.
Sadly, I'm predicting a tragic end to this guy. Sympathetic, interesting, severely limited but with great power, said power being at a price? He feels almost calculated to build up interest and sympathy as quickly as possible just to bump off after we get emotionally invested in him. I hope I'm wrong, obviously, but I'm going to try to keep from getting too attached regardless.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. And the true tragedy is that, like an Alzheimer's patient in the early stages, he's knows his fate. Life can be so cruel.
If it moves, eat it. If it doesn't move, kick it—then eat it!Pardon the bad mention but it seems that like some actors it is a case of "dead guy walking" or as the other trope mentioned chronically killed actor, but then again it is not like the "dead guy walking" works properly as is.
I am likely to be wrong but it gives some of the vibe.
Well here goes nothingRemember Ivo Sharktooth, Private Jaeger
As much as the mention of Sharktooth gives me hope, this guy just seems like a mad science combo of Littlest Cancer Patient and Too Cool to Live (a sparky jager!). My sole consolation is that there's almost no chance that his loss will be anticlimactic.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Sadly, Jekyll!Jager doesn't look anything like Ivo.

That has frightened me before, but possibly for different reasons.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.Because Writers Cannot do Math and Everyone Hates Mathematics?
I am onto "the field that once they get properly taught it stops being such a pain."
Edit: Then again how often do we deal with Black Speech to say the least?

Well here goes nothingMe, too. Especially in Econ 110 and Intro to Physical Anthro wherein we learned more about genetics than the Beginning Genetics course. Fierce!
If it moves, eat it. If it doesn't move, kick it—then eat it!Hmm, so perhaps old Tobber knew something about those giant eldritch abominations looming over Mechanicsburg?
A time-fiddling doohickey is smuggled into the country, and the country's leading expert on Time shenanigans is murdered.
So... two possibilities
1) Whoever now has the Lantern killed Tobber to prevent interference by Albia's expert in Temporal Mechanics.
2) His death was staged in such a way that it would be difficult, if not impossible to prove that the pieces weren't his.
My money is on #2. For now.

"Give sorrow words; The grief that does not speak knits up the o'er-wrought heart, and bids it break." William Shakespeare - MacbethActually I think case I suspect that it's because whatever he was working on is related to whatever is going on in Mechanicsburg at the moment. Some of the early experiments scared the crap out of one of the old Heterodynes and they were only a couple of centimetres tall.
I think that was about my own expressed fear of blackboards covered in equations, which yes, has a lot to do with being really interested in physics while suffering from Writers Cannot Do Math.

I don't think those two pirates look anything like each other, and anyway didn't Zeetha say she killed everybody and set the place on fire?
I think it's "just" a random pirate (or ex-pirate), but now he'll repeat Zeetha's story to other pirates and it will reach Bang's ears (it's already established that she's famous among them, they may even recognize Zeetha's story's link with her).
I wouldn't be surprised if we had Bang telling her *own* story to some Pirates, only to be interrupted by the same guy saying that sounds familiar - after all, I don't think we had a nice flashback for Bang's story, did we?
