So, the Weasel Queen interlude is over. Is this Storm King opera another one?

There's nothing special in most bio-constructs that would protect them from wasping (wasp eaters being a notable, purpose-made exception). Machine constructs and cyborgs however...

The wasp info is out there, in the hands, for now, of a construct that can't be wasped. Excellent, and a piece of info the Foglios didn't keep hidden; so it must be important that we know it. I adore the idea of Agatha's little flying clanks protecting people from wasping, but suspect her voice will be more useful at the party. Maybe not though, the geisters must be aware of her ability after all, I wonder if the wasps could have been fiddled with to be more discriminatory between Agatha and the Lu-in-Charge.

So, how is the ink reservoir connected to the pen, and when did Vi find time to read novels about the romantic life of the Lady Heterodyne?

All I know is, my gut says maybe.

Agatha must have been dictating a looong time, and Violetta speed-reads. Smoke-knight skill, you know, and I bet she's got an eidetic memory as well. She's just memorized the last half of the book; she'll read it in her mind later.

Biological constructs are probably vulnerable on a general basis, although I wonder if the ones around Mechanicsburg 'happened' to get their hands on Tarvek's vaccine via Gil via the obvious back-and-forth between at least two people. tongue

Since no Jaegers were wasped at any point, and Lu is darn well aware of their capabilities as soldiers, I suspect that an unforeseen side effect of being Jaeger is immunity to the wasps. (The Jaegers' return to Mechanicsburg is still hysterical.)

Zeetha and Vi were probably both passing the time by reading. If someone interrupted Zeetha's reading by attacking, she'd clobber them on principle. If someone disturbed Vi, they'd hit the ground while Vi muttered about being bothered at the good part.

It has been said at some point in the comic that Jägers are not affected by slaver wasps (said by Bang soon before assaulting Sturmhalten, IIRC).

[up]Wasn't it also mentioned somewhere before the big time bubble that Klaus had Mechanicsburg checked out by the wasp eaters and none of the townspeople were infected, and how impossible that seemed? Maybe the local Dyne water imparts some sort of immunity, even the de-powered variety that reaches the average citizen now.

Yep -- Jägers don't get wasped.

Interestingly, hardly anybody in Mechanicsburg is wasped, which Tarvek finds surprising. The reasons for this are unclear. Tarvek clearly expects there to be some, but does he expect wasps to have just found their way there, a deliberate release, people to have moved in? Is it lack of exposure, or does the Dyne still have a few interesting effects even after the Castle is drained?

(For that matter... this still hasn't been addressed, I think... the Castle wasn't storing Dyne energy for about 19 years... so where was it going? Surely somebody would have noticed if that river out of a big tourist town was causing deaths and dramatic mutations all the way downstream?)

Edit: [nja][up][up]Not Klaus, but yeah, they looked.

DK had been draining Dyne energy at the source for centuries. Maybe it hadn't built back up to noticeable levels yet?

That's as good as guess as any. It's also possible that the magic of the Dyne dissipates in the air by the time the river leaves the Heterodyne territories.

I got the vague impression that the Castle was still somehow draining off the Dyne-power all this time, even though it wasn't getting any electric power from the giant waterwheel.

Perhaps all the wasps near jaegers get made into bog sandvitches? No chance to wasp them at all.

Heh, maybe the Mechanicsburg snails secrete an antiwasp substance, thus protecting the local citizenry. They certainly eat enough of them. Snail gelato anyone?

[up]Look, I like me some escargot, particularly with oodles of tomato, paprika, garlic, herbs and a dash or two of wine. I'd not say no to the plain, old garlic butter, either.

But, frozen? I don't want to think about it. xP

I've always believed that escargot tasted like whatever you cooked them in. They're basically a very bland clam. That being said I can't imagine any way that you could turn them into ice cream. Even if you cooked them in butter and parsley and then chilled it and mixed it with cream to make a savory ice cream? The very thought brings shudders. [tdown]

A few years ago, a Japanese company came up with an ice cream with chunks of horse meat. Never underestimate humanity's weirdness or attempts to find new and peculiar dishes to try. And that's without getting into the making anything and everything into alcohol.

That's completely different. Gilroy is the garlic city. Surrounding cities can judge direction by the smell of garlic on the wind. People would look at them weird if they hadn't made a garlic ice cream.

Zeetha, what HAVE you been doing in your life!?!

And Agatha just gave Desmana an interesting bit of intel for free -how to track certain items!

I'm not sure she did. Desmana doesn't speak Spark, and from the way Agatha's talking it sounds to me like something your typical Spark would be able to do anyway.

Unless she's overestimating "anyone" more than I thought, at least.

Also, my impression from the last panel is that dkbot is the someone who she plans on tracking the emissions with; and we've not seen anything else like dkbot. She hasn't sold the information on building him.

Whoever Agatha ends up with will owe Zeetha many thanks.

Zeetha comes from the city that worships Ashtara. A steamy romance is practically a holy tract.
