So, the Weasel Queen interlude is over. Is this Storm King opera another one?

Well a secret agent at least. The book is a symbol
. Artimo also always carries a book. So the Assistant is in some way connected to the Muse of Industry. Eighteen to twenty years ago Lu was dabbling in the migration of consciousness and personality. Maybe she succeeded in transferring more than one muse into flesh and blood?
Say- the Tourists who were already in town when the attacks came- What happened to them? I'm picturing them all trapped in some little cages hoping for a chance to beg for mercy. And see more incredible sights, or course. ; )
This is deffinetly the sort of town that has a real Tourist Trap or two, right?

It may be but given that you are a self proclaimed pervert king it is going to be a difficult one to shake off.
Oh I love this page, everything from Agatha leaping into Tarvek's arms, to Be All That You Can Brie, to DK calling Agatha his Dread Mistress, to Van and the Assistant's byplay, to DK trying to bribe Agatha with a pretty dress, to how Tarvek keeps his hands around Agatha's waist, to their mutual worry about Gil. It's all adorable.
Van's question about the Assistant's identity seems more believable this time. She's enough of a Mechanicsburger to use "we" in her remark to Van, and the tone of the whole reply seems like someone who expects to be in town for the foreseeable future. If she's an agent of another faction, she's good and she's long-term. Perhaps she's so perfect an assistant that her work is completely transparent? And so, easily forgotten? I get a feeling that Kaja or Phil may have been an assistant ast some time, and people kept asking who they were, even if they should have known.
Van rather likes DK's idea for a statue. He may be loving it as much as any tourist.
Tarvek seems less enthusiastic about DK being fixed than Agatha is, which makes sense as he's only safe as long as he's being beneficial to her. Making more Heterodynes does count.
So, how will Tarvek react to Gil's attempt on Agatha, and her sending him off via Franz? He knows Gil far better than Agatha does, and cares for him greatly. His twisty clever mind will be spinning with ideas about why Gil behaved as he did, and he may have some information about the Baron's abilities that will shed light on the situation. I suspect he may wish that Agatha had kept Gil closer, if still out of her hair.
Van, extremely able in his own right, has been blessed —- and cursed —- with an attractive, tireless, hyper-competent secretary. who is always at his side and always in the know.
It was a relief to see Agatha come down to earth.
You can just see Tarvek, the Castle and Violetta conspiring to give her a proper Evil Queen makeover to compliment the effect of that grandiose flaming chariot. Lucrezia on the half-shell.
Does she know that Klaus is on the way?
1. We still don't know for sure that the mecha that overheard Klaus was an avatar of Der K. It seems possible, and even likely, but it's an extrapolation that hasn't been confirmed. Keep a questionmark by that.
2. At this point we're most of the way sure that Tarvek's a good-guy of sorts, at least where Agatha is concerned, but he and Gil are still Frenemies, and there's still some question of whether his serum really was poison. There is a very slight chance he's concerned that Gil's still among the living, or that he may be out for a bit of vengeance. And, no, I personally do not consider this likely. It's another legitimate question mark I'm laboring to retain.
3. At some point in time Kaja tagged our Lady in White with Book as Agatha's eventual social secretary. If this is so she's either not an especially evil agent of an enemy, or she's one who's willing to be subverted.
4. Her first appearance that I can find dates back to the repair of Van's coffee engine, where she uses her organizational skills to round up workers for Agatha on the condition that the workers then have orders of coffee sent around to their shops, a trait that's later reprised when she bargains with the black market for supplies for the siege. She's practical, brave, and level-headed, whoever she is.
5. Yes, Lightningnettle, it is a good, good page for those of us who find Tarvek-in-love adorable. He gets a hug, and neither he nor Agatha scramble back or let each other go. Victory excitement, bashfulness, nor concern for Gil is sufficient to make 'em let go of each other. (sigh) The boy may not triumph, but at least he's not stuck being mere throw-away she-never-even-liked-him.
Mostly Harmless.I suppose Agatha and the Assistant could have a relationship like Gil and Wooster. Agatha does tend to garner more loyalty than Gil does in general though, so I could see her suborning an agent from a different faction. I'm still more inclined to think the Assistant is a loyal native of Mechanicsburg overall. Speculation still fascinates of course.
A search with emil and cheese gives me the trivia that Emil Frey invented Velveeta. No idea if this is the sort of thing the Foglios would refer to. I was thinking a webcomic or something similar would pop up.

1) Speech bubble indicates it has the castles consciousness inside. Even if not, Klaus would have to assume he will not have the element of surprise. He has dealt with the castle before and knows what it sounds like.
2) If Tarvek wants anything but Gil's health and survival the story is shot. Bet he proposes a rescue mission soon after he apprises Agatha of why sending Gil back was not the best choice. Wonder if Sanaa goes along she always wanted to rescue a prince.
3&4)Right. Though it doesn't look like she needs subverting. Indeed it looks like she would be down right hard to divert let alone subvert. She has got her mission and she knows what it is. At some point so will we. Pages will tell.
5) He would be that much more adorable if he got his weasel back.

Levity is what keeps airships afloat. Everything else is just ballast.
1. Speech bubbles in GG are often good hints, but by no means always. I'm not convinced that it's a sure thing. Again, possible, but not assured.
2. I feel much the same, but continue to keep the question mark as long as the Fs are still dangling it. IMO they still are, in some sense.
3&4. Yes. I look forward to having Our Lady in White with Book revealed further.
5. Well, yes. I'm all in favor of Ginger-Weasel reclaiming his Storm King Rescuer. Indeed, we're coming up on a good time for Tarvek to discus Wasping, Klaus, Gil, and the need for Vespiaries — which could get us back to Ginger Weasel. I'd appreciate all of that.

I accept the reasoning on the Torchmen, but honestly think it's just Phil having trouble with a particular rotation. And I would love a good GG opera.

Mostly Harmless. But if we get an opera.... Who could play Krosp? A midget to be killed by axe wielding oysters?
Well here goes nothingI have been a bad girl and written the Professors to say we really like Ginger Weasel, and that some of us would love to see him back with Tarvek. And maybe even the little behbeh weaslies, too.
Tarvek with behbeh weaslies in his pockets and Ginger on his shoulder would just be awesome.
Is not bad! If it doesn't fit the story, perhaps they can make a wallpaper.
Could the Assistant be the Secret General? She doesn't look jaegerish, but that's not necessarily a problem. She does seem to be everywhere, and has a good grasp of logistics.

I find it deeply, deeply unlikely that any Von Mekkhan would fail to know the Secret General, though.... Unless they've got a true complete shape-shifter, and even then the thought of a Von Mekkhan steward failing to have been familiarized with a Jager General seems improbable.
And, yes, I'd enjoy wallpaper. But I'd enjoy an in-comic presence even more. I really loved Tarvek draped in weasels, and Ginger just worked so well with him as a dramatic force multiplier.
Whoever she is, she honestly does seem to regard Mechanicsberg's interests as being currently the same as her own. There's no sign she fails to regard the corporate body as "we," nor does she in any way seem at any time to do anything not in keeping with promoting Mechanicsberg's well-being or Agatha's position as The Heterodyne. If anything she's consistently promoted both from her first appearance in the coffee shop. She's also been decked in heterodyne jewelry from the first moment.
Her outfit, for what it's worth, looks uniform/vestment/ceremonial. Her book is a big deal. Her personality does not seem in any way similar to the various twists we've seen in the human/mecha mind melds (Castle, Otilia/Von Pinn, Anevak, and possibly Lu herself). She's not presenting herself in a Priestly sense so far, but I *could* imagine her as a "high priestess* if they chose to take such a swerve. But at heart she keeps making me think of Boris, the former-library-apprentice turned uber-organizer. It keeps bringing me back to questions of the Silent Librarians...who might, quite possibly, observe and record and attempt to maintain order, while not backing any particular faction much of the time.

Mostly Harmless.

Looting? Maybe the Silent Librarians wanted the library.
