So, the Weasel Queen interlude is over. Is this Storm King opera another one?

The torchmen, dingbots and improved zappy stick suggest this is the real deal. Agatha with what is left of Gil's transportation.

Definitely more trouble than Tweedle. Vimmen trouble!cool

Plus we are still left to wonder about the other K o J chess pieces. Though right now I want to see if Klaus can so just walk in to Mechanicsburg with his black level item. I wonder what he will shop for?

[up][up][up][up][up]With her current outfit and super-staff?

Could someone with a background in classical art tell me if this resembles anything. I'm getting such a vibe of winged dingbots as cherubim, torchmen as angels, and Agatha on a half-shell; but my knowledge is so dribble-drabble I can't make connections.

It makes me think of my favorite hymn ever, "Morning has Broken".

The start of a new day, the sun's up and all is shiny and new.

Purple and fire, quite the colors for a Queen.

Is she still wearing her locket? That facial expression is either Lucrezia mad or a Spark in full Madness Place. I'm hoping for the latter . . .

If it moves, eat it!

I think the locket's just visible under her chin. But no, that looks like Agatha to me. Ferociously satisfied, possibly madness place, but definitely Agatha.

I don't think Lu would keep quite so many clothes on, and those she kept would be girlier.

Can't place the image, Lightningnettle, but I agree that it sets things humming. And Phil has once again mucked up a hand rotation: the hands on the fore-torchman have been rotated on the wrists. I understand how...but wehn I start trying to put my arms and hands in that position there are parts of me that just whimper.

I'm inclinded to think it's Agatha in Jazzed mode, though she could be channeling a *bit* of Lucrezia gloat. Which turns Tarvek's head-turn and expression in that last frame of the previous page into the expression more often handed to the heroine releved and retro-anxious for the returning beloved.

And now we wait till Tuesday to find out anything more. Sigh...

Mostly Harmless.

Given this one's a clank, I would not entirely rule out the possibility that this one actually does have its hands on backward.

But yes, we do seem to have a recurring chirality problem with hands overhead. *g*

Those Torchmen are drawn almost as firebirds. And I love the winged dingbot near the bow.

[up]So ... iz Phil's art about to go chiral? (Seriously, anyone whose vocabulary includes that word impresses me.)

Lightningnettle, I'm most inclinded to think it's some variant on Renaissance/Baroque Ascensions you are thinking of. This is a poor example, but it shows the main elements.

[up][up][up][up]Or the elbows and shoulders could rotate through angles our petty flesh bodies can't handle.

[up][up][up][up][up][up]You know, that should be some bouncy Jamaican tune jaegers sing as they skip off to battle.

[up][up]If the sun counts as a glory, even that fits. Though Agatha's is off-kilter a bit. evil grin

[up]I think it's a TV tropes thing. I saw it on your icon and someone else's in another forum today as well. When I first saw it I thought you were changing your icon.

Sun counts as a glory. Yes there are ways to explain away the hand placement, but I'm inclined to think Phil just has trouble with that particular rotation aspect.

[up][up][up]Maybe you didn't tip the server?

Seriously, it's probably a glitch in the server, either in providing the image or in constructing the web page to request it. It's quite likely that different hardware runs the two functions.

One way or another, when they make a play about it (and they will) That Scene is going to be included.

In fact, I'm quite looking forward to seeing a play (in-story) based on recent events. Opera, musical, or 'normal'?

lightningnettle, hippogrif maybe this is what Phil is riffing on. Thematically it fits. Though it may be a little premature. She has only dealt with the son. She still has to deal with the father.

And both the boys are musical in their own ways.

Rejfan, possibly, if the torchmen are the horses? I think the ascension painting is more similar though, as it contains cherubs to reference the dingbots and is also in the sky. I'd expect though, that Phil blends many of the different things he's seen together to create his art, without it necessarily being entirely on purpose.

ilaine, I am quite sure that Mechanicsburg will be infested with dingbots of the groundbound variety as well as the flying for the foreseeable future.
