"I have to wonder if Jack wouldn't be getting more sympathy if his eyes weren't all scrunchy."
The evil smile at the end of that strip wasn't exactly welcoming either.
Umbran Climax◊Yeah, a little. As I see it, she isn't trying to drive other students away, but she isn't trying to get to know them either. She's got her best friend Kat, and she's got Rey and Robot and Shadow 2, so she doesn't feel the need to make more acquaintances. And it seems that she's just not very comfortable socializing in large groups of people.
She also is totally asexual. She has no feelings for boys whatsoever. http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=591
Or so she claims.

Back for no reason whatsoever!
Planescape Hijack
Eh, I read that as her being too embarrassed to admit it, especially to Rey who's a) kind of a Dirty Old Man b) was obsessed with her mom.
Though it's also possible she Does Not Like Men and the face that popped into her head was Kat's.
Productivity is for people without internet connections. -Count DorkuYeah, I've never seen her be particularly emotional about anyone besides Kat. Well, that and her mom. But, never boys, is my point. I misspoke when I said she was asexual. Better to say that she SEEMS asexual. I personally do not believe she feels...that way about Kat.

Back for no reason whatsoever! They're young, ao I doubt they have real feelings like that, at least so far. Unless I've misread the ages. How old are they, again?
But I have a feeling that Jack is going to end up either as Annie's love interest, or be wildly shipped with her, as the comments indicate. He's already being considered one one of the main characters, if what I've seen on Deviantart is anything to go by.
Meta Four:
Yeah. I think Kat is overreacting. None of the other students (Jack, Willie and Zimmy aside, but the last two don't coun't cause they're always like that.) are mean to Annie or try to keep her away. I know people a lot like Annie. They're intimidating, because they're so distant and aloof. People generally don't approach them, more because they're a bit scared by them than anything else.

I'd rather the world betray me, but I won't betray the world.Annie reminds me a lot of myself. Having said that, I think that she's definitely capable of being interested romantically but her introversion dampens it—she's just not that interested in people in general, and would rather exist in her own little world with ones she already knows and trusts. So friends first, attraction later. She just appears asexual because she doesn't have any male human friends at this point, so nobody is available for her. (Well, unless you count Kat, but I personally think they work better as friends.)
What about Deviantart? Does the author have a new account that he posts in, or has there just been an influx of fanart lately?
(I can't find much on DA of Jack, but I did find this
, which I thought I'd share with you guys because it's beautiful.)
Hahaha.
Here
in the GC forum's Wild Speculation thread, one person theorized that Jack isn't just crazy; he's seen beyond the Fourth Wall, and his erratic behavior is meant to sow chaos by stirring up controversy among the fandom.
Here
, someone replies "As long as he doesn't start talking or thinking in yellow tinted Deadpool boxes, we'll be all right."
Then he posted this.

I still think Jack's a good guy on the inside. It's not him that's ripping Annie, it's that spider. :( Pre-Zimmy, he was amicable towards both of them and didn't harbor any bad feelings towards him like he seems to in the latest page.
