Well, Coysengrin's at least willing to talk. So far, so good.
Spiral out, keep going. You know, he really does seem a lot happier these days. See, Jack was right, this is why you shouldn't just bottle everything up!
So, any guesses if he's something specific from a concrete mythology? The name alone is just generic "wolf" meaning.
Well the same can be said of Coyote's name. Combine that with the fact Ysengrin is a wolf of French origin...

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Well at least now we have a name for him and confirmation he considers himself a separate entity. I know a loup-garou is a type of werewolf but I'm guessing he just means wolf.
Mm, the name change may be that he now considers himself a godly "wolf" entity, like how Coyote was a godly entity of archetypical "coyoteness," rather than an individual sapient wolf.
The first thing I thought of was Loup-Garou,a kind of werewolf

But that was probably just The Dresden Files fan in me

... Or it's just Coyote fucking with Annie. And with us, by proxy.
His declaration kinda feels forced, like he's grandstanding. Also, I wouldn't take anything said by a trickster deity at face value, TBH.
Spiral out, keep going.Loup just means "wolf" in French. The same way Renard simply means "Fox".
By the way, did anyone notice how Loup called Antimony "My Love" in the previous panels?
Is this the culmination of Coyote's obsession and Ysengrin's brooding respect/admiration? Combine the both and you get romantic love?

Oh God I hope not!
Loup just Loup, wolf, Coyote is a trickster god, but Wolf/Loup, but than there are a lot of wolves in fairytales.
It's Jenny the Witch masquerading as the Coyote all along.
Jack's got really strange taste in women.
Spiral out, keep going.Nitpick: "Renard" doesn't simply mean "Fox". Foxes are named after Renard.

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Oh?
"Replaced goupil (from Latin vulpecula) by euphemism – mentioning the fox by name was considered bad luck, so Renart replaced it."
Huh, interesting.
That's fascinating!
I knew that the Old French word "Goupil" referred to foxes as it appeared in some of the classics we read in school but I didn't know that it's disuse was due to superstition.
Didn't something like that happen with wolves too?
Nope. Loup comes from lupus. Like the English word "lupine" meaning "wolf-like" or the Spanish word "lobo"
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youYou're probably thinking of bears.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.Yup, very Coyote.
Well, that settles that. Coyote knew exactly what Ysengrin would do after all.
If Coyote knew exactly what would happen... how sure are we it isn't just Coyote...
Or maybe it's a bit of both. hm.
WEBSITE | WEASYLHmmmm, I am leaning to him being legitimately dead and the fusion being a Thanatos Gambit rather than only pretending to be dead while piloting Ysengrin from inside. It kinda feels more thematic that way.
You know, I'm starting to think maybe this whole thing is not going absolutely swimmingly.
