This thread would be more appropriate.
But don't worry, apparently people here also like crazy girls.
OK, here's one- anyone else think Azula looks like Ellen Page/ Juno ?
I followed the advice: I stuck until episode 6. Which surprised me a lot: a good rousing speech does NUFFIN? And it's played for DRAMA? And it only got more awesome from then on.
Horray for uncle Iroh, the manliest man ever by my own definition of manliness (Kamina and Simon are only slightly less manly: they need to cool their heads a little).
'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?I've started watching this show again recently, and I've been glad I've done so. Gonna start again from the beginning soon, which I can't wait for, especially since it's been years since I've seen most of the episodes from Book 1.
"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."is it wrong to thing Azula's last scene was also her at her hottest?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI do wonder what our friends Brian and Mike will do/ are doing now that the series is over? Still forking over to cash to M Night Shayamalan
an heroic gesture would do the world goodthey'll be coming up with the best plots/characters that we never get to see
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI just created a 'know-age' thingy just to say that I've come to love this show.
I saw the first episode quite a while back and felt that it was just another generic kids anime. But then I chanced upon 'the Blind Bandit' and 'Zuko Alone' a year or so later and was really impressed by the depth and attention to detail.
I then completely forgot about the show for another couple of years or so (I'm in the UK with no access to cable/satellite TV you see.) But recently I got round to watching all 3 seasons and damn was I impressed.
I'm sure I'm not saying anything new here but I found the show to be leagues better than the majority of the dross which is shown on TV nowadays. Solid characters, excellently defined world and rules, beautiful animation.
It's probably the first time a (childrens) TV show has made me choke up (Tales of Ba-Sing Sae), creep out (Lake Laogai/The Puppetmaster) or gasp in awe (the finale).
I've always had a thing for animation, learning to draw (poorly no doubt...) from watching pokemon as a child but Avatar is really the perfect example of an animated show to me.
Anyway I'm sure you've all read similar testimonials before so I'll just go back to my corner...
I had a kind of similar experience with Avatar. I watched its premiere on YTV (Canada's kids network) way back when, and my first reaction was "This is either the best dubbed anime I've ever seen or the best done animeqesque show I've ever seen." I didn't actually consider myself a fan, but I kept stumbling upon the series while channel flipping and was always engrossed when it came on.
A few weeks before the season 1 finale, I went traveling for school for a while, then I got back I lost my cable, so forgetting about the show entirely until a year ago, when my sister suggested it to me. I was like, "Oh yeah, I vaguely remember liking this show, I'll just rewatch some of it and catch up on what I missed." And then I finally saw the season one finale and I was like "SHIT! THAT WAS AWESOME!" And then season two surpassed it. And then season three surpassed it. I am now officially a fan.
Avatar really is a great series. It's got beautiful designs, animation, and flow, especially in its amazing fight scenes; it's got a great world with history and depth; its characters are energetic, developed, and engaging; and it juggles drama, action, and humour flawlessly. Its story is enthralling, its scope is epic— it's a delight to watch, pure and simple.
Not Quite Batman
I joined the ATLA party later than most (in fact, only when they started plugging adverts for season three on Nicktoons Network), but I gotta say, this is one of the finer animated shows on TV, up there with Oban Star Racers and [insert your favorites here]. And I also have developed quite a thing for Azula. Which, since I'm turning twenty in about a month, makes me feel like a Dirty Old Man. It's not statutory rape if she's animated, right?
"Religion isn't the cause of wars, it's the excuse." —Mycroft Next^ There's a meme going around in the fandom about how "It's not lolicon if she's have an easier time raping you." This is generally applied to Toph, but I see no reason why Azula couldn't qualify as well.
The Philosopher-King ParadoxLet's take a vote: When do you think Avatar Grew the Beard?
To me, it was The Storm. Though it was already sporting Perma-Stubble to start^^;;
Swordplay and writing blog. Purveyor of weeaboo fightin' magic.Yeah, I think "The Storm" was the turning point from "pretty damn cool cartoon" to "Wow, this cartoon rocks!". (The five o'clock shadow first appeared around "The Warriors of Kyoshi" when the script said, "Oh, by the way, you know Character Development? You're going to be seeing lots of it. And it will stick.")
Then came the Season 1 finale, and the show, like, grew a second beard or something.

Just finished season 2. Gotta admit, Azula really does deserve her genre savy reputation.
(BTW, is it ok if I think Azula's a bit hot, or am I going to a bad place for that???)
