Seriously, why the frick everyone thinks Kishimoto loves Sasuke? The only citation I've seen was rather old one where he commented on him being favourite one to draw o-o Which doesn't really surprise, he has pretty cool design.

Yeah, Sasuke has IMO one of the best character designs in the manga.

@kay4today Yeah, you're right. Kishi likes Shikamaru way more than he does Sasuke. I suspect that he likes Gaara a lot too.

I liuked the Pain fight in the anime. Insane, over the top and had 4 tails added to the fight. I loved how crazy and insane it was and wouldn't mind seeing another fight like that again. It felt more Gurren Lagann and Dead Leaves like more than looney tunes, though.

Gurren Lagann's animation was 10X better than that fight, it was over the top but it didn't look so bad I'd mistake for a 14 year's first flash animation. Gurren Lagann had crisp smooth animation, and the body parts actually stayed consistent instead of rapidly growing and shrinking and changing shapes. It looks like they phoned it in for the pain fights.

I'm appalled you even compared the two.

And I care, why? It was over the top, insane, and Dead Leaves-ish in it's insane looks. Just like the new intro. And I'm sticking to it. Just because it was off model, doesn't mean it was bad at all.

Fact of the matter is you compared not just off model but bad- off model animation to crisp animation of a not that similar and very different and far better done style as if they were one in the same.

The animation in episode 167 was amazing. What sucked was the fight choreography and the artwork. They turned Pain into a freaking joke. My 8 year old cousin doesn't read the manga, but after that fight he laughed every time Pain showed up.

167 was so bad it's funny. But after that, I just couldn't watch the anime anymore. Valley of the End was good animation with some bad parts. Looney Tunes was bad animation with silly parts.
