Yu-Gi-Oh! Broken Worlds

  • Game-Breaker: This storyline in particular is very infamous for introducing two of the game's most powerful archetypes: the "Tearlaments" archetype, which is considered by and large the strongest archetype to ever grace Yu-Gi-Oh! and is one of the only archetypes in the game's history to require close to a full nuke through banlist hits to drop out of playability, and the "Kashtira" archetype, whose floodgate-centric playstyles and powerful no-cost Level 7 monsters produced a series of terrorizing formats.
  • Tough Act to Follow: Fan reception to the Broken Worlds plotline has been decidedly mixed, being released during the climax of the fan-favorite Abyss storyline. Most complaints stem from the story revolving almost exclusively around one single character rather than a small but fleshed out and likeable core cast, as well as being much more esoteric than previous storylines, having much more obtuse storytelling on a card-by-card basis making it harder for fans to care about plot developments when deciphering the plot is difficult.
