- Broken Base: While the fandom generally favors Memories of Celceta as the definite version of the story of Ys IV, the same can't be said about things removed from the remake. Notably, because Adol in Memories of Celceta already had a fair bit of adventure in Celceta by the beginning of the game, it completely skips over the Esteria part in Ys IV: Mask of the Sun and Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys (Lilia from Ys II is removed from the story as a result). Its music is also quite contested, as most of the soundtrack is not a remix of prior Ys IV but new to the remake (which is a particular offense for old fans as The Dawn of Ys had a great soundtrack). Whether their exclusion in the remake are acceptable and the new contents make up for their absence is a hotly debated topic.
- Complete Monster: See here.
- Game-Breaker:
- The Hero's Cloak and Wanderer's Cloak accessories can boost a character's strength and defense stats upwards by a hundred points, which is equal to several Character Levels' worth of stats. Better yet, the Hero's Cloak grows a lot faster than the Gavel of Souls from Ys SEVEN. The only downside is that their effects are nullified in Time Attack battles.
- It's possible, though the timing's tricky, to Flash Guard and Flash Move at the same time. Yes, you can put your opponent in slow motion and dish out crits with impunity; furthermore, you can rinse and repeat the process for the whole duration of the fight. This is easier done in particular when defending multi-hit attacks as you can Flash Move out of the enemy's combo as you Flash Guard.
- Polished Port: The worldwide PC version of this game published by XSEED runs not only at 60 frames-per-second, but offers more graphical options beyond what the Vita version had like 4K rendering; the results are thus
. It was ported by Hyde, Inc., who also ported Ys SEVEN to PC earlier, of which it too was this trope. - Porting Disaster: The Chinese PC port of Memories of Celceta got the job done, if just barely - because the game-play is carried over from the Vita version without too many control problems, textures have been noticeably downgraded on a platform that should be more than able to handle intensive graphics. Other problems include lighting and shadows reduced to ugly splotches, an inconsistent frame rate that only goes up to 45 frames-per-second, and bugs in the code, as it seems to be trying to run routines from The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel that were somehow left in.
- Woolseyism: Talking to the bartender in the town of Casnan will have him say "I AM A MAYUN (MAAAN)!!!!!".
