Youngblood: Judgment Day

Go To

  • Complete Monster: Sentinel, real name Marcus Langston, initially presented as little more than a darker copy of Iron Man, is revealed to be something far more sinister. Originally discovering a reality-altering book after his father stole it and then was killed, Marcus would use the book to rewrite reality to make himself into the super "hero" Sentinel. Deciding that the adoration of the public wasn't enough, Sentinel used the book to force reality into a far more violent and grim form, killing nearly incalculable numbers of people as well as personally slaughtering many people himself purely for the thrill, and brainwashing all other heroes into having similar attitudes. When the heroine Riptide discovered the book, Sentinel killed her and used the book to frame fellow hero Knight Sabre in order to avoid being caught. After getting exposed at Knight Sabre's trial, Sentinel attempts to use the book to kill the entire rest of the superhero community to maintain his personal murderous power fantasy.
  • Faux Symbolism: As Marcus plunges the superhero world into the Dark Age, a lone silhouette of him is shown. The pose is almost exactly the same as the one on the iconic Batman: The Dark Knight Returns first issue cover.
  • Funny Moments: First witness.
Glory: As for your question, I'm only a demi-god, but my mother and her immediate family actually predate the creation of physical Universe itself.
Ms. Shane: Your honor, objection! I hope Mr. King isn't trying to link this case to the Big Bang!
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: A technology themed hero becomes the first superhero of the modern age and is soon followed by mystics, aliens, and other oddities. Are we talking about Sentinel or Iron Man? Given what Sentinel did, one could argue Tony was just playing the idea straight rather than doing it for his own ego like Marcus.
  • Narm: This one line from Shona Shane:
Shona Shane: Before I was a costumed adventuress or a lawyer I was a woman... just like the victim in this case.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Shona Shane's supposed to be the prosecuting attorney in the case of Riptide's murder, but she does almost nothing while Toby King brings out most of the evidence leading up to the reveal of Sentinel being the murderer.
