YooHoo & Friends

For the 2012 Gag Dub:

  • Adorkable: Chewoo and Pammee, whenever they are completely clueless.
  • Americans Hate Tingle: Many Koreans hate David Feiss' gag dub of the series, and it was critically panned by a lot of critics for its translation. Aurora World went further by disowning the dub in favor of their own version.
  • Awesome Art: Say what you will about the Gag Dub, but the original scenes added by David Feiss are very stylish, wacky and expressive, much like his previous work (especially the hand-drawn Toonzone Studios Korea-animated segments).
  • Awesome Music: The new music composed for the Feiss-directed segments, especially the theme song, is super lively and energetic.
  • Base-Breaking Character:
    • Either Father Time gives some much-needed character to what was a dull, generic cutesy show, or he's an annoying lout who hogs too much of the screen time.
    • Chewoo is either an hilarious addition to the crew with some good jokes, or unneeded and unnecessarily annoying at times due to her Genki Girl attitude.
  • Broken Base: Many fans of the original claim the adaptation is a hideous defilement of the YooHoo & Friends franchise, but others call it a necessary revamping of what was a bland generic cutesy cartoon; there are also a few who think each version is good in its own way.
  • Funny Moments:
    • Lemmee's reaction to Father Time's announcement about the wish granting in the first episode.
Lemmee: I'd wish that you were never born!
Father Time: You each only get one wish.
Lemmee: Then I'd wish for two wishes. The first being that you were never born, and the second for a puppy named Earl!
    • In the episode "Handsome Is My Maiden Name", when Chewoo and Pammee are drooling over a Spanish lynx named Libby.
Pammee: Libby, you are one sexy sleight-of-hand artist.
YooHoo: Sexy AND an artist? No fair!
Lemmee: Oh, the girls might be attracted to you, but we're not! That much. Now take your God-like face and rippling muscles and LEAVE!
  • Nightmare Fuel: In "Rookie Monster", YooHoo and friends are downright terrified about what they assume to be a one-eyed boogie man that rips people's lungs out. The "monster" in question makes painfully sounding groans that catches our main characters off guard, and in a few scenes, loudly shouts some eerie phrases with horrifying close-ups.
"LOOK AT MY THREE AAAAARMS! THREEEEEEEEE!!!"
  • Superlative Dubbing: While panned by Koreans, this adaptation managed to turn an adorable, harmless preschool show into an unexpectedly hilarious Quirky Work with witty jokes, fourth wall breaks, and even Flavor Flav as one of the main characters. Not to mention it was created by David Feiss. Although it unfortunately wasn't a success at the time due to plenty of Troubled Production behind the scenes, it is now remembered fondly by audiences who had watched it, with many wishing Toonzone had been able to continue dubbing the series.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Ms. Bushu. As the Pookees are hilarious, they are also just as incompetent and later start to lose sight of their original goal. Bushu, on the other hand, could've raised some stakes for the series, but the writers only used her once.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: More like they were prevented from the opportunity to use a good plot, as season 2 of the original series had a lot of interesting ideas and jokes that could've been made in the gag dub - had it not gotten cancelled and stopped by Aurora World so soon.
  • This Is Your Premise on Drugs: Literally the entire hook of this show is that it's like the original on drugs.
