- Anti-Climax Boss: Kanaendesu's first phase is against Catleen, who has the durability of a wet paper towel. After she goes down, the fight against the vase demon is relatively easy and possesses no unique mechanics outside of his Soultimate, which is effectively just an easier version of Wobblewok's in Yo-kai Watch Blasters.
- Bile Fascination: It's usually the first game that got no export that people want to play, rather than something like Yo-kai Sangokushi, thanks to its infamy for being one of the few bad games in the series.
- Critical Backlash: With most of its changes to a well established formula, being infamously glitchy and standing out as one of the few bad Yo-kai Watch games, it became pretty popular to dunk on the game. However, with the end of support to the Nintendo 3DS meaning more people are willing to hack and play it, there are a few who find that the hate the game receives is overblown, even if it's still very easily the worst game, with bugs not nearly being as common as some reports would make you believe, and the online experience and character AI (though that last one was never particularly good) actually being on par with, if not better, than the first game.
- Critical Dissonance: Famitsu gave it a score 1 point higher than Yo-kai Watch Blasters. The general consensus is that, not only is it a massive downgrade from the first game in the Busters series, it's easily the worst game in the entire franchise.
- Ensemble Dark Horse:
- The Enma variants are pretty well known for fleshing out the history of the Enma clan.
- The Bundory Family earned fans for having a lot of personality and being a villainous family who all actually care about one another. The fact some of them are pretty attractive certainly helps too.
- Fan Nickname:
- City Licker, or Jimanhattan, is often referred to as Jimmy. It ended up being an Ascended Meme in Yo-kai Watch 3.
- BaiKING is also known as the Skibidi Toilet boss for coming out of a toilet in his introductory cutscene.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Busters 2 comes in Sword and Magnum (Gun). When Pokémon Sword and Shield came out, Pokémon fans joked about the existence of a Pokémon Gun. Then Palworld came out, which was a Pokémon-based game featuring guns.
- Inferred Holocaust: The game begins with the Bundory family escaping from the YPD, resulting in a multitude of car crashes and one car that was being driven getting lifted up, flipped over, and thrown into a couple others. The series isn't consistent on how Yo-kai die exactly, but the drivers probably didn't survive that.
- It's the Same, Now It Sucks!:
- Busters 2 has the fewest new tracks out of any game in the franchise, only adding eight, including the openings. While all of the music is certainly pretty good, the lack of new tracks is definitely noticeable, especially if you played Busters T a lot.
- The bosses are exactly the same as they were in Blasters T, locking you in a small square arena against the enemy, who is often just a normal Yo-kai enlarged. While it was acceptable then, since it was just side content to an actual game, as the main meat of Busters 2, it leaves much to be desired. The unique mechanics are restricted to being unique to the boss' moveset and behaviour rather than anything special with the arena, and the enlarged Yo-kai fight just like their regular forms in the dungeon proper, which aren't very engaging to fight. In comparison, when Yo-kai Watch Blasters made a few regular Yo-kai into full boss fights, as with Demuncher, who gained an entire moveset. Generally, if it was a normal Yo-kai fight, it'd normally come in the form of at least a Dual Boss.
- Just Here for Godzilla: The one redeeming part of the game to most people is the new Yo-kai. These include Chi Ma Tree, a tree from Aokigahara, a forest in Japan known for being a common place for people to take their own lives, whose name means Blood Sacrifice Tree and wields an axe with a pattern that resembles blood, various previous holders of the title of Lord Enma, one of whom is a cat, and the Bundory family.
- Memetic Mutation:
- "Jimmy!" "NEUTRON!" Explanation
- baba ban banban banbarayā Explanation
- The Platinos myth/Where's Platinos?/Platinos does not exist Explanation
- Jokes around Garten of Banban due to the similar titles and Banbarayar having a similar bodyshape to the titular Banban.
- The past Enma have flames on their back that symbolize which generation of ruler they were, which raises a lot of questions when the family species changes so much. They go from a human to cat in three generations, a cat to a dragon in four generations, and back from dragon to human in a single generation. While some of their descriptions imply they were chose for the role, rather than appointed by birth, the fact the latter is shown to be how it's done in all of the localized titles and just general Rule of Funny means people joke about how the various Enma are absolutely freaky in the sheets have a wide variety of non-humanoid interests.
- Sequelitis: While some parts are considered decent, like the new Yo-kai, it's generally considered a massive step down from the first one, bucking the trend of Yo-kai Watch's Even Better Sequels.
- That One Boss: Jimmanhattan should be easy on paper, but a bug means he can just infinitely use his Soultimate over, and over, and over, and over, and over and over and over and over and over again. Those give i-frames by the way.
- They Changed It, Now It Sucks!:
- The Crank-a-kai is an iconic series staple in every entry. Except this one. The Dream Wheel is here, but its more flashy, techy presentation means it's not quite the same.
- Unlike Blasters T, Clu-T-Facts only drop from boss chests and you no longer have a chance to get them from normal chests. For many, this takes the fun out of exploring since the chests are unlikely to have anything worthwhile, and it also makes Clu-T-Facts much harder to grind.
- Houzzat allowed you to decorate the Blasters House in the first game. Not only is Houzzat not here, you only get a single customization option to change the tent.
