- Complacent Gaming Syndrome:
- Fighter role Yo-kai are commonly used by players, with Venoct, Unkeen, B Jibanayn and Komasan, Football Usapyon, and Rudy being popular choices. The most common online teams will typically consist of three Fighters with one Healer providing backup. Generally speaking, players will leaving the AI take the other roles if they can.
- Usapyon is a pretty common online choice due to his best gear being obtained extremely easily early on and due to being unlocked quickly through the story.
- As of the Moon Rabbit Crew update expect to see a lot of players online using Lord Enma if they have him. See Game-Breaker below.
- Crosses the Line Twice: The ending of the "Slice Legendary Yo-kai in Two!" mission. Shogunyan seeing the fruitcats congratulating him and killing them all in a rampage? Funny. Shogunyan expressing serious remorse for it among their corpses? Tragic. Their corpses being neatly sliced piles of actual fruit? Amusing. Shogunyan returning later to see the rest of the legendary Yo-kai feasting on the fruitcats' remains? Hilarious.
- Game-Breaker:
- Lord Enma is by far the best Yo-kai to have on your team. He is fast, has no elemental weaknesses, has a skill that allows him to go through a Great Change to power him up, and can equip three bracelets that gives him high HP, Spirit, and Defense that also transforms him into either a near-unkillable Tank, a powerful Ranger or one of the best Healers in the game. Also, if you equip the Slimamander Soul, it will increase his Strength alongside his Spirit. If you’re lucky enough to have four of him on your team, you’ll be practically unbeatable.
- Tanbo is the very definition of a Glass Cannon; while he has pretty low HP and his Skill causes him to have a higher chance to receive critical hits, that same Skill allows him to also have a higher chance of dealing critical hits in turn, and combined with effects that allow him to increase the power of said hits, you can have a downright monster of a Yo-kai that can deal massive critical damage to bosses, along with having Dodge to keep himself alive. Chansin fulfills this role as well, albeit to a lesser extent.
- In spite of how little respect he gets in the story, Whispernote of all characters is one of the best Rangers in the game. His Skill, Worldly Whispdom, gives every Yo-kai on the team a powerful 10% increase to their critical hit chance, meaning a massive increase to the team's DPS, and he has Big Defense Drop, which lowers enemy's defense. With their own Souls, this goes from 10% to a whopping 20% increase. Even crazier? Whisper can be extremely broken with a physical attack build thanks to the aforementioned abilities when paired with the Oni Smasher (Sky) as he has the Dodge skill.
- Goddamned Boss: Slimamander/Eydra's main gimmick is that they take no damage unless you attack them in their open eye. The issue is that they only reveal said eye during their Blazing Belch attack, and they reveal it for such a short amount of time that it's nigh pointless to use anything other than basic attacks. Even if you massively ahead of their level, they take forever to die due to how little of the fight they are vulnerable for.
- Harsher in Hindsight: Given Akihiro Hino's mismanagement of Level-5, the fact Hinozall having an idea leads to his entire office exploding and his employees being injured can be seen as a little too realistic.
- Low-Tier Letdown:
- Tanks in Yo-kai Watch Blasters are by far the least used and least popular units for several reasons. They aren't nearly as useful as Fighters, Rangers, or Healers in battle especially against the bosses and aren't exactly fast for the most part either. Most often they will end up being the first units down in any major fight.
- Wotchagot is a Tank. He also has the lowest HP stat in the game. Yeah.
- Orcanos' Boss Soul adds 7.5% of the DEF stat to the STR and SPR stats. While it might sound good, compare it to Ogralus' Soul, which is rather mediocre: it adds 35% of the STR stat to the SPR stat. Given you will rarely want to use this over Souls better suited for actual tanks, it's far and above the worst in the game.
- Most Wonderful Sound: The flashing sounds that play when you defeat a practically hard Big Boss. Especially if you were playing on Ultra difficulty.
- Squick: The ropes that Sproink and Hoggles occasionally drop tend to have pretty gross descriptions, lovingly pointing out how they're covered in sweat. Special mention goes to the Dark Rope, the description of which says that it's never been washed even after hundreds of years of continuous use.
- That One Boss: Hinozall and Hinozall Awoken have gotten infamous for their "Do Not Disturb" attack, which allows them to form a barrier to render themselves immune to all damage, with the exception of the beams that the Employees they spawn fire. If they aren't taken down fast enough, they use Power Nap/Power Blink, restoring half their HP, which they can use indefinitely should their barrier remain up. This is especially bad if you have AI party members, as they don't realize the employees are the only things that can break the barrier and try to kill them on sight or end up tanking the beam shots.
- They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Many fans were disappointed over the translations removing the Ghostbusters parody element of the games, though many others also prefer the new designs. Yet another camp does understand this owed to copyright reasons and, given the game is plot relevant, couldn't have just been skipped over.
- Win Back the Crowd: People who were disappointed that most of the theme songs were being skipped over or replaced by the Swampy theme in the English version were excited to find out that not only is the Blasters ending theme being dubbed, but also both of the opening themes.
