- Awesome Art: Instead of being what are essentially blobs of land with basic looping texture inside, Randomly Generated Levels are now made of various detailed pre-drawn pieces stitched together note . Combined with a hand-drawn art style and buildings, the resulting landscapes are gorgeous Scenery Porn.
- Surprisingly Improved Sequel: Worms W.M.D is an impressive improvement over the past games with its inclusion of vehicles and crafting system, and the physics being more akin to the second-generation titles. Outside of some initial controversy, it has garnered a strong following, to a point where it is considered the game that comes the closest to dethroning Armageddon as the best game in the franchise.
- Unintentional Uncanny Valley: Although most people warmed up to the redesigns by the time the game was released, the initial reaction was that the worms look way too creepy compared to previous games. Their sharp teeth are the biggest offender, particularly when they make a Cheshire Cat Grin while looking sideways, as seen on the logo; it seems the intention was to show both sides of the bottom row of teeth at the same time, but oftentimes it looks like half of the upper row fell off.
