  • Covered Up: "All You Fascists Bound To Lose" has been given new life several times, notably as a hopeful prayer by Rhiannon Giddens, and by Billy Bragg as a defiant call to arms.
  • Magnificent Bastard: From Dust Bowl Ballads: The title character of "Pretty Boy Floyd" is out with his girlfriend when he gets in a fight with a policeman. After killing the cop, he flees into the countryside and takes up bank robbery. Travelling across the Midwest, Floyd uses his ill-gotten gains to pay people's mortgages and leave thousand-dollar tips. Around Christmastime, Floyd leaves a giant load of food at a shelter for families affected by the Dust Bowl, along with a note chastising the bankers he robs for taking their homes away.

  • Signature Song: "This Land Is Your Land", a song that practically every American knows, but many aren't aware of who originated it. "Pretty Boy Floyd" is probably a distant second in the race.
