- Alternate Aesop Interpretation:
- One can easily glean a Drugs Are Bad message from this film: the reason why the Kid ends up crashing into a glass table and thought to be dead by Margaret, necessitating her to call Jack, is because he was on drugs.
- Don't agree to make a drug deal on behalf of another person, no matter what their excuse is.
- Fanon: The fixers are never actually named, neither in the film proper nor the credits, but were credited as being called Jack and Nick before release. Most viewers have ran with this being their actual names for convenience's sake.
- Funny Moments: By far, the funniest moment in the film is in the second to last scene on the subway. Jack points out to Nick that he has blood on his jacket. Nick slowly looks down as if shocked and behaves like he's got a mortal wound and didn't notice due to the adrenaline. He then pulls his hand out from under his jacket to reveal...a middle finger. He was yanking Jack's chain the entire time and Jack had been visibly worried about him, then rolls his eyes as he realizes he's been tricked. It's truly the way that Nick does it that sells the hilarity, as the bit was genuinely worrying both Jack AND the audience.
- Just Here for Godzilla: It's generally agreed that the film's biggest selling point is the prospect of seeing George Clooney and Brad Pitt working together again.
- One-Scene Wonder: Margaret only appears in the beginning before Jack and Nick send her home with an alibi, but she kickstarts the entire plot and Amy Ryan deftly balances between drama and comedy by mixing her obvious distress and panic with having to deal with the absurdity of the situation she's found herself into.
- Spoiled by the Format: The Bolivian Army Ending becomes a little less effective given that a sequel was announced to be in development before the first movie was even released, with Clooney and Pitt returning, meaning that Jack and Nick must've survived that shootout somehow. Though given that as of now, the sequel has been cancelled, the ineffectiveness has been reversed.
