- Retroactive Recognition: Emmanuelle Vaugier has a minor role as one of the several victims of the Djinn in this low-key movie. A few years later, she had a more prominent and recurring role in Two and a Half Men as Charlie's on-and-off girlfriend.
- Sequelitis: Is generally seen as a huge step down from the previous two, in no small part because Andrew Divoff did not reprise his iconic role as the Djinn, with the two actors replacing him being seen as lacking the charisma, menace, and twisted humor of Divoff's interpretation. The wooden acting from the the heroine and the largely unsympathetic male lead did little to help win audiences over.
- Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Greg is ostensibly supposed to be Diana's Dogged Nice Guy lover who can't get her to open up to him, and constantly urges her to seek help. Instead, he comes off as an entitled Jerkass who constantly invalidates her, refuses to hear anything she has to say, doesn't understand the severity of her trauma, and is also implied to have considered cheating on her. Even when he steps in to allow the Archangel Michael to enter his body instead of hers, it seems less protective and more like he's stealing the spotlight.
