- Awesome Music: Love the game or not, the soundtrack is agreed to be amazing.
- Cry for the Devil: It's hard not to feel at least a little bad for Squid due to his tragic and sympathetic backstory, as well as his genuine vulnerability towards the player near the end of the game after defeating him, and the player's ability to literally fix his broken heart.
- Draco in Leather Pants: It's very easy to slip into this territory for Squid, due to the same reasons above. His wanting to take over the real world is easy to overlook due to his cartoonish demeanor resembling (and being inspired by) a schoolyard bully, along with his portrayal as a mere imitation of an "original", more irredeemable being fraught with unchecked power. He's also got quite a few Pet the Dog moments towards the player as well.
- Friendly Fandoms:
- With Geometry Dash, due to both games involving fast-paced precision platforming set to sick electronic music.
- Many Will You Snail fans tend to also be fans of other media also involving rogue A.I.s as major characters, such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, Portal, TAU, Inscryption, etc.
- Hilarious in Hindsight
- There's a lab at Stanford University dedicated to researching the human brain in order to develop more effective AI systems. The name of the lab? Stanford Neuroscience and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory...or SNAIL
. - Jonas Tyroller painstakingly recorded and edited every single voice line for Squid. Then after the game released, AI voice cloning technology underwent a boom and became very easily available. In fact, there's a fanmade AI voice for Squid
used by fans for memes, games, and other projects.
- There's a lab at Stanford University dedicated to researching the human brain in order to develop more effective AI systems. The name of the lab? Stanford Neuroscience and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory...or SNAIL
- Love to Hate: Squid is an absolute bastard who berates the player and murders humans for fun, but he's so damn entertaining it's hard not to love him.
- Memetic Mutation:
- Yo.
- Referring to the game as "Squid Game"
- This gif
of Shelly overlaid with a CGI car crash - Using 'snail' as a verb in general (ex. "Me when I snail")
- Paranoia Fuel: You could be in a simulation right now, and you wouldn't even know it. Also, the implication that Will You Snail is actually a game programmed by a sentient AI from an alternate universe and planted into the brain of Jonas Tyroller via black hole computation is something that's both theoretically plausible and impossible to prove wrong.
- Play the Game, Skip the Story: The lore springs and secret rooms in the game are all completely optional, allowing players to skip the story and focus on platforming if they so wish.
- That One Achievement: Good luck getting the Zero Deaths Achievement or the Speedrun Achievement (completing the game in 30 minutes or less while ignoring the exploration/puzzle levels).
