- Best Known for the Fanservice: Many people usually only seek this film out for Jayne Mansfield.
- Fanfic Fuel: What if Rock didn't resist Rita's advances?
- Unintentional Period Piece:
- The film takes place in an extremely played-up version of the period in which it was made – accurately predicting how people in the future would remember the fifties.
- Not to mention the Format-Specific Joke of the weird "intermission" before the start of Act III, an extended Take That! to television in which the image is reduced from widescreen Technicolor to a tiny, blurry black-and-white window and an out-of-character Randall drips with sarcasm at the wonder of watching a story on a 21-inch screen filled with interruptions, which clearly dates the movie to when television was a new development viewed with skepticism.
- Values Dissonance: At one point Jenny works out too hard, and Rock comes home to find her collapsed on the ground. Her doctor tells Rock that girls are better off not doing pushups and going shopping instead.
